After college, I had the opportunity to work in an optometry office. My first thought upon beginning this job was that I loved being able to use my knowledge from my degree and be involved in people and making their lives better. As I became more educated on contacts, insurance, vision therapy, and low vision I knew I wanted to be involved even more. Over the months working there, I really began to open my eyes to how rewarding, and fast paced optometry can be. Working one on one with people, and seeing what positive things optometrists can do has been so inspiring. My turning point in which I decided to pursue optometry as a career was witnessing a child walk out of the office with new glasses, and realizing there were leaves on the trees and they weren’t big blobs.
