My Perfect Boyfriend
The Perfect Boyfriend - College Essay

When I describe the perfect boyfriend I could have, I think of one I already had. When I was a sophomore, I met a different kind of boy. One who was sweet, and warm and funny: different. He was a puzzle piece that didn't fit the rest of the puzzle and just right for me. Before him, I always thought my first love was my first boyfriend, but no, this one was.

The first thing I noticed was his dark chocolate brown eyes, and I was hooked. He had soft, floppy brown hair, a flat little mole above his mouth, and full soft lips. He was taller than me, kind of skinny, and really goofy. We met at McDonald's for a choir event, and we were playing with our food while our friends thought we were being weird. Two months later, he called me, and a whole new world opened up. We didn't get to see each other much because we couldn't drive, but we talked every night for hours and hours. We laughed at the same things; he thought my klutziness was cute, along with my inability to work simple machines. We were alike in the way we did facial and speech expressions. I loved the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed, how he'd raise one eyebrow when I said something weird; he felt like home in my heart.

Our dates consisted of a Snowball Dance, a basketball game, dinner and a movie, and watching The Breakfast Club at my house; he watched me perform for Forensics, and we goofed off at a park. It wasn't ever much, but it meant the world to me to spend time with him. Six months felt like two weeks, and for those six months, I was the luckiest girl in the world. He drew me pictures and wrote to me; I spent a lot of my time missing him, so I wrote him letters every day. Time flew by; my sophomore year had barely started when we met, and it was almost over. I was looking forward to summer, and junior year, with prom and other upper-classman activities. By the time I settled into the relationship, and accepted that he wasn't like the others, it was

I walk into the dull atmosphere classroom, pictures of present and past high school baseball players stare back at me. The marker board covered in scribbles of math and assignments that will soon be issued to us by the teacher. One look at the teacher and you can tell he wasn’t in the best of health. Starting with his overweight physic to his white, pasty skin, almost a bit discolored in some areas. It was soon discovered early in the year that he suffered from a heart deficiency. Yet, having constant road blocks enter his path, he continues to teach and peruse his passion. I rather much enjoyed that class, and there was one month left till until school was out. Students start to file into class; among them is a familiar but unacquainted face, Dan. Dan and I knew each other but neither of us had taken the time to traditionally acquaint ourselves and really talk. Dan had short golden blonde hair, pale white skin, which was making his acne more visible. He was tall and lanky with a friendly smile and attitude. That day he finally introduces himself and we begin to talk. My first impressions were that he was sweet yet a bit odd, referring to many people and myself as ‘love’. As well came off as ambitious and carefree, after having snuck out of class multiple times and just leaving for the day. As summer dawned closer and sophomore year was coming to an end, me and Dans friendship grew and we exchanged numbers. Summer began, weeks pass and we talk from time to time. Till one day while texting I ask if he had any big plans for the rest of summer. The reply I got was not what I expected. He told me that he was due to have brain surgery in a month or so. And as well, that that wasn’t the worst part, not only is his condition fatal if he doesn’t receive proper treatment, but that if the operation is successful that a side effect is that he will lose all memory of the last 4years of his life. At this point in the conversation my mind was racing trying…

Like I said I met him at a very young age. I was only about fourteen at the time. It was late September the leaves had begun to fall heavily. My family was attending a festival. Seeing as I didn’t have any friends I wondered around aimlessly for a while. I was in line at the concession stand when he walked up behind me. “Buona sera”, I said (Italian for good evening.) “Ciao”, he replied. I bought a gelato and turned to walk away when he tripped me and I spilled my gelato on my clothes. I looked back at him when I realized exactly who he was.…

He was my first boyfriend. I was eleven then, boyfriend meant something completely different. I like you. Do you like me? Check yes or no, meticulously written on a neatly folded piece of paper passed underneath a chain of desks until finally reaching its target, whispered prayers forming an impenetrable shield around it so the teacher would not notice the exchange. I think we dated for one day, two at the most. He kissed another girl and I yelled at him as he ran down the street, but we stayed friends after the tumultuous…

After our 7th grade year, we had more classes together. We didn’t have homeroom together, but we had history and Reading Renaissance together. We would hang out after school and spend hours upon hours watching Youtube videos and doodling random adventures for characters we liked. We actually rewatched an older movie, and somehow made a horror movie into some comedic…

Once upon a time there was a girl. One day she saw a boy she’d never met across a crowded room. Their eyes locked: she froze in her tracks, her face stuck in awe. Her blood ran cold; her fingers began to tingle as a shiver ran through her entire body. 8.2 seconds later the boy flashed her a beaming smile. His expression injected a flood of warmth into her fragile heart and her mouth involuntarily turned up to return the gesture. She didn’t know how or why but she knew at that moment that this boy was the one. This is the true and universal story of a phenomenon known as love at first sight.…

Our relationship began like very few relationships do, on Facebook. In June of 2009, after I had been accepted into a Fall 2009 freshman class, a boy said hello in a message and a 4-page paper could not even touch the surface of our relationship in those past 2 years, but I will do my best to explain as much as possible. Over the next few months, the relationship evolved from Facebook messages, to the live chat, until he finally asked me for my number and the texting began. Then one summer day, my phone rang, and we had our first telephone conversation, although sparked due to a drunken impulse from the mystery man on the other end. Over the span of a few months, I learned so much about this future classmate of mine, from his music taste, to his life in Southern California, and much more. I’m not sure if I’m proud or not of how well versed I am in the subject of Computer Mediated Communication. However, no matter how I feel about our introduction and first spoken words, I would certainly say since the day I got that first Facebook message, the relationship with this boy has been nothing less than interesting.…

He loves me, he loves me not. He loves me, he loves me not. He loves me, he loves me not. Saturday October 23, 2010. It is my twelfth birthday. Today I know everything because I am a woman now. It is 6:30 pm and almost time to cut the cake at my party. My crush and also my best friend, Darin and I, ran off and found a secret hiding place. Under the table we were hiding with our two cups of Shirley Temple’s just talking about life. He was like my prince charming that I did not even think about yet. We snuggled close together under the table and we can see the footsteps pass as someone walked by the table. His green eyes with speckles of blue is an image I would never forget. His hand reached towards my face and he stared into my eyes. My heart…

My first one ever. I tried really hard to do what any other boyfriend would do and I held hands with her and everything. Everything was good for a while, but those feelings came back again. I felt as if every time I held hands with her, hugged her, I would feel forced to, I didn’t want to. These feelings eventually started to show, and she broke up with me. I was hurt, but I was more relieved than anything else. I could finally, truly reinvent myself. This was all a great idea at the time; however, I still had no clue as to exactly what I was…

In the mist of my family and school problems I came across a gentlemen that I quickly fell for. His name was Michael and he was going into his second semester of college. On the other hand, I was still struggling to get out of my third high school. Ironically, his mother was an educator which made it hard to introduce myself with my circumstances, hiding from her preconception of me. My friends were now in college, while I was sitting in an alternative school. It was very difficult for me to attend school and balance my over-night shifts as a waitress so I can support myself financially. Not only was I going through the stress of not being home but I was dealing with the fact that I had no insurance for myself for the forthcoming days. I was not mentally and not fit to even try getting back into high school again!…

During my sophomore year of high school, I was “blessed” to have my first boyfriend, or so I thought. I finally ended our relationship after a whole year of deception and infidelity. I found myself battling my significant other in an abusive relationship. At first, it seemed unlikely that the two of us would end on negative terms, but the experience was evident, and I was just oblivious to the signs. The story of my first love was not a tale ending with “happily ever after,” but a tragedy framed by heartbreak and trampled hope.…
