In order to achieve that level, is everybody and including myself have to take the first step, and that is graduating from college. Once I graduate from college, and earn a high income job, the third part of my success roles in. The third and last definition that I define success in America is to be happy. In addition, me being able to spend time with my family and friends creates happiness. Therefore, happiness is a mood that I will love to achieve when I am older. Having the ability to be happy with what I have, being happy with what I have accomplished, and being happy that I have the opportunity to study and live in America. The United States offers so many opportunities, and is a place where everybody wants to improve their lives. That is the biggest reason that I am here for, is to live a better life than what my parents have lived. Moreover, just by graduating from college, I will immediately have a better life than my parents. This is due to the fact that my parents did not attend nor graduate from college. In other words, instead of graduating from college like I did, my children have to graduate from a graduate school in order for them to achieve the American Dream. In conclusion, this cycle continues, everybody having a better lifestyle than what their parents had, and this is what success in America looks like. Besides me defining my version of the American Dream, where I heard it the first time it was really interesting. I heard the American Dream the first time in my English class during my junior year of high school. What I learned about the American Dream that year, is that almost everybody’s main goal is to achieve the rich stage. However, I acknowledged in that class that success in America can have many disadvantages. This includes, wealth causing damage to themselves or to the people around them, low earnings for college graduates, and a high cost of living. In other words, that year it made me think about if it is even worth striving for the American Dream with all of its disadvantages.
