My Reflective Essay About Writing

This first chapter is based on challenging and exploring your conceptions about writing, reading, and research. My ideas about writing before reading this chapter were different from what I realized now. Growing up writing was always my second favorite subject, behind math. I felt like my work was never proficient, and sharing my writing made my vulnerable. I hated how my work was graded. Most of all I disliked the lack of feedback I usually received. Most of the time it left me unable to progress my skills and has hindered me. In class and in the book “Writing about Writing” we discussed threshold concepts such as how the invention of the writing is based off all of the authors past and present experiences. Good writing is easy to follow, which means it is usually well organized. It satisfies the readers want and also conveys the writer’s purpose. A reader chooses to read something, looking to get something out of it. A writer writes somethings looking for the reader to take something out of it. I think good, successful writing matches the readers needs with the writers wants. Good writing conveys either emotion, an idea or both.
