The Feather of Maat, known as the Feather of Truth is shown in this exhibit, and is now housed at the Smithsonian Museum. The feather is a portion of inlay art, made of glass, which now appears green in color. This artifact is believed to be from the Ptolemaic Dynasty, 305-30 BCE, in Egypt. It is a tiny artifact, measuring only 1 and 1/4 inches, but it has a big legacy. This artifact was most likely used in part of a greater art piece to depict a story with the Goddess Maat.…
This artifact is a letter written by my professor Dr. Maureen Walsh explaining my involvement in Read across America Day at North Schuylkill Elementary School. I co-taught two lessons on this day one in a secondary classroom and one in a kindergarten classroom. This experience allowed me to practice teaching strategies and work collaboratively with the community. This artifact fits under standard #10: leadership and collaboration, since it explains an opportunity I had to work with a peer and serve my community. By doing this experience I gained a lot of knowledge on how to work well with other professionals and volunteer in my community. This is an example of my best work since it demonstrates how a professor noticed my ability to use the…
Observable “artifacts include the physical signs of an organization 's dominant culture.” (Baack, 2012) This would include but not limited to displays of awards, uniforms, and our social media. Awards that show observable artifacts include our MWR supported of the year and MWR customer service award. These awards include forty hours of annual leave and a plaque displayed for the whole installation to see. This helps for the employees to know that their hard work is being noticed and that they are appreciated. Each facility within the organization has a special uniform they wear in order to distinguish what department they are with. This has become a great help to our customers when we do major events to include all staff. Lastly our social media for our individual departments is an example of observable artifacts. For example, when the aquatic center receives awards, has events, or we do special training we announce these on our Facebook to show the installation what is going on in our own department.…
We have the bible, pictures of the school, the Episcopal and American flag, and a icon. The bible symbolizes the christianity of the school, and shows our love for God. The pictures of the school will show the future people what our school looks like, and will provide some pictures that will be very valuable in the future. We put the Episcopal flag in the time capsule because we are an Episcopal school. We want the flag to be one of the most important things in our time capsule. We also put the American flag in the time capsule because we are proud to be an American school. The icon was done by our incredible art teacher. It took her very long to finish, but we were all very amazed by the beautiful and sacred…
For my next picture/artifact I chose a man play the trumpet. The trumpet was the artifact. The trumpet represents the Harlem renaissance because this was when a surge of creativity with African Americans was flourishing in Harlem a neighborhood in north New York City. This brought musicians, artist and writers.…

I went to the North Carolina Museum of Art on April 8th, a beautiful and sunny day. Being around the museum conjured a sense of nostalgia to my middle school days when I took a field trip to the museum. Since that last visit I have gained a better understanding about art and what goes into every piece of work. I have also gained more experience, back then I did not know how to shade properly and did not know a thing about composition. Now, I have a greater appreciation for every stroke of a brush and color applied. The reason I chose the North Carolina Museum of Art was solely to re-experience the art with my new artistic eye. While walking through the museum, I searched for that one piece of art that would catch my eye and inspire me to talk…
The visual artifact I choose to rhetorically analyze is the "super racist" Red Cross safety poster. This visual artifact was introduced into the mainstream media on June 27, 2016, after it spread throughout Twitter and sparked for being racist. The goal of this poster was to introduce pool/swimming safety to children across the nation. The poster was posted in two Colorado pools in Salida and Fort Morgan. This poster displayed safe and unsafe actions of children playing in the pool, titled "be cool, follow the rules". Why was this poster considered racist? The poster separated "not cool" and "cool" actions of children playing properly around the pool and children misbehaving. Most of the children playing properly were children of the white…
In my life I have been lucky enough to travel to striking places around the world. I believe that this assignment allowed me to express some of my experiences on the canvas. Specifically, traveling to Whistler Mountain with my family in previous winters I saw very distinguishable pieces of land that where intruded by humans. One piece of nature that stood out in my mind was a single tree that survived in the middle of the barren land. I believe my painting represents the change that we experience. Moreover, the more change we experience the stronger we become as a result of the experiences and hardships we face. The clear-cut land shows severe change; furthermore, the strong solemn tree represents how change can make us stronger. My painting also holds meaning of solidarity. Every year I travel to Whistler Mountain with my family. Every year since I was twelve I have lived away from home. Moreover, this yearly trip to Whistler Mountain was a getaway to spend time with my family and cherish these memorable moments. This trip was one of the only moments I got to spend commending time with my family. Since these trips are such a rarity, they hold a prodigious meaning to me, and as a reflection so does this painting. This painting and assignment holds many personal attachments within my…

The financial trade business sector is definitely a business sector that requires a very developed analytical program. In fact, emerging companies as well as current companies would have to understand that stocks, forex, and commodities are or have been correlated in some way. For instance, prior to 2008 the United States Dollar had a direct correlation to oil, but now there is virtually no correlation. Gold on the other hand has a direct correlation. When gold is up the USD is down and vice versa. This is just a sample of the many correlations that have to be factored in to specific trades.…
The art work that stands out most to me is one that portrays a young boy as a soldier in the US Army. The human experience from this could be expressed as one of many, love, loss, pain, hope, despair, values, beliefs and as we hope not but even death. I think the artist had love, loss and pain in mind with the painting. This is meaningful to my life because I feel that this is a portrait of myself as a young boy. I joined the US Army at seventeen, finished my basic training, school house training and was shipped off to Iraq with my unit before I was even close to being eighteen. I believed in what I was doing, I lost a lot of family and some really great friends in that war. I too had a picture taken with my uniform and full battle rattle, as we called the bullet proof vest, on. In that picture I was all smiles but honestly I was extremely scared and felt almost alone. This picture shows a young man with the same uniform on smiling. It really takes me back in time and allows me to see what war did to the once innocent young smiling boy that I was. I still to this day believe in all I have done, know that somewhere in there I have done them for the right and values of America but still it bothers me now. It also makes me fear for the young boy in the picture, fear for the outcome that will happen.…
