Macbeth

The play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare took place in Scotland in the 1600’s. It is an alarming play about a couple who are disturbed due to their excessive ambition. They both want Macbeth to be king, but it comes with a price. He has to kill King Duncan to gain the royal crown.
It all started when the three withes told a rumor to Banquo, and Macbeth. Lady Macbeth told Macbeth to “look like an innocent flower, but be the serpent under it” which Means look innocent while King Duncan is in their castle then Macbeth said “if chance might have me king, why chance may crown me”. Then later that night, Macbeth told Lady Macbeth “Duncan comes here tonight” and that is when Macbeth will kill Duncan.
In Macbeth after killing Duncan he “heard knocking at south gate”, but it was only his conscious telling him what a bad deed he did. He also saw a bloody dagger and said “is this a bloody dagger which I see before me, the handle before my hand”. He feels like he is going to hell and is damned for eternity so he cannot say “Amen or God Bless”. Macbeth chose to do what he did, but will he suffer the consequences eternally?

Right from the start, Lady Macbeth was evil. A person reading this play would say her saying “how tender ‘tis to love the babe that milks me’ while it was smiling up at my face, have pluck’d my nipple from its boneless gums, and dash’d the brains out” is very evil. Well that is what she is, evil. She also said to Macbeth while persuading him to kill Duncan about herself “stop the access and passage to remorse”. She is also very crazy, she said “come you spirits, that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and make thick my blood” so she wants to become more masculine so if Macbeth backs out, she has the strength to kill Duncan.
A person reading Macbeth could easily infer that the pursuit of power and control bare a great price. Macbeth essentially loses

Lady Macbeth could be presented as a disturbed character quite early on in the book. In Act One, Scene 5 when she has received the letter from Macbeth she immediately starts to plan and take matters into her own hands. She knows immediately that the only way for her to achieve her goal of being queen is to kill Duncan. Lady Macbeth then says something quite witchy, she invites evil spirits to enter her. “Come you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here; and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty”. This comment shows that Lady Macbeth wants to dedicate herself entirely to her evil ambition. Lady Macbeth is willing and determined to steel herself and make herself into an evil, cold person. She knows that the murder will need evil power within her, which is not naturally in her. Lady Macbeth is ready to go to extreme lengths just to make sure her plan works and gets what she wants, and will get rid of anyone who is in her way.…

Macbeth and Banquo met them on their travels. Thane of Glamis is satisfied with his position, until the three witches tell him, "hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor, thou shalt be King hereafter." (I, iii.). When they reach their destination, King Duncan actually gave Macbeth the position of Thane of Cawdor, and start contemplating of how the rest of the prophecy will come true. In Polanski and Kirosawa's versions of Macbeth in the films, Banquo and Macbeth actually laughed at the prophecy, emphasizing on how they thought it was silly. I do not believe that the witches are the reason for what happened to Macbeth; they had a prophecy and simply told it to him. Some say that the three witches were the reason for the start of everything, and there was no true prophecy, but a counter-argument would be that they knew Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor. Later on, Macbeth tells his wife what had happened by writing her letter. Macbeth learns that the only way he can become King is to kill Duncan, and get rid of the heir, and also prevent Banquo’s son from gaining access to the throne. Lady Macbeth begins to consider what "impedes thee from the golden round" (I, v). She desperately wants her Macbeth to be King and she calls upon the "aids of sprits"(I, v) to help her in getting Macbeth to kill Duncan. There is a huge juxtaposition between Macbeth's reaction and Lady Macbeth's reaction. She seems more bloodthirsty and is very keen for…

She even wishes to “unsex” herself, or make herself more like a man than a woman so she can kill King Duncan herself. This is because she displays many different characteristics to that of the witches. She is not naturally evil because she shows signs of guilt, unlike the witches. Murder is something that the witches enjoy. The witches do not show any sign of guilt or regret. To show the extreme of her guilt, during her sleep walking she is absolutely obsessed by a stain of blood which was on her dress after the murder of Duncan. She says, Out damned spot, out I say! One, two; why then, tis time to do t. Then she is obsessed with the smell of the blood. She says, Here s the smell of the blood still; all the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand. Oh, oh, oh! This is in comparison to the guilt that Macbeth felt at the start after the murder of Duncan. At this point, she was very practical and said to Macbeth; A little water clears us of this deed. Now she cannot see the practical side and she seems to have swapped roles with Macbeth because now Macbeth does not show guilt and Lady Macbeth does.…
