In Miranda v. Arizona (1966), the Supreme Court ruled that detained criminal suspects, prior to police questioning, must be informed of their constitutional right to an attorney and against self-incrimination. The case began with the 1963 arrest of Phoenix resident Ernesto Miranda, who was charged with rape, kidnapping, and robbery. Miranda was not informed of his rights prior to the police interrogation. During the two-hour interrogation, Miranda allegedly confessed to committing the crimes, which the police apparently recorded. Miranda, who had not finished ninth grade and had a history of mental instability, had no counsel present. At trial, the prosecution's case consisted solely of his confession. Miranda was convicted of both rape and kidnapping and sentenced to 20 to 30 years in prison. He appealed to the Arizona Supreme Court, claiming that the police had unconstitutionally obtained his confession. The court disagreed, however, and upheld the conviction. Miranda appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which reviewed the case in 1966.…

The only weakness I have is adapting to change. I never knew I had this kind of trouble in life, but I learned about something I have to work on. After analyzing it I realize it is a problem. Because I get nervous when I start something new or when I get stuck doing something I cannot do, I start to get frustrated. After learning this about myself, I need to work on making my weakness into strength by adapting to any type of changes in my life. My strengths included following instructions and adhering to values. I am very good when I have instructions in front of me as I build something new or when I have an assignment. Following instructions is my biggest strength in my life because it is something I use every day. Adhering to values is something new that I learned about myself just because I never noticed it in my life. I am the type of person who will stand by the truth in every situation around my.…

As a writer, I believe I have several strengths as well as challenges. Beginning with my strengths, I believe I have a passion for writing. When I write I make it easy to follow my train of thought from simple word selection to more complex thoughts. I also have my topics organized in a pattern designed for an easy flow from start to finish of what is written. While I strive to keep it simple, sometimes I have to get creative to capture and keep my readers attention. For my challenges, I believe my limited vocabulary may be a problem along with thoughts that do not convey any useful information. In order to improve my writing skills, I have to read, re-read, and re-read again to make sure I stick to the topic at hand.…

two strengths I have when writing poetry I guess I can write about just anything if I had to or whatever comes to my head I can put down on paper pretty well I just can't find the right words to go at the end of them to make a clear rhyme scheme. Another weakness I have when writing is I have to kind of be in the mood if I want to write. if I am not feeling like writing it's almost impossible for me to start writing things but once I get going I am able to fluently putt down whatever I am thinking at the time. Maybe a strength that I have when writing is whatever I am thinking about I can express well how I am feeling if I am writing it. I have trouble telling people with words sometimes but when I write it down I can get out everything that I am feeling.…

My strengths and weaknesses have changed since the beginning of the year. One thing that did not change was my ability to work under pressure. I learned that I write best when I have the pressure of the essay being due soon. This can be a double-edge sword since it causes me to write fewer words in a week than in one day before the assignment is due. Because of this, I generate fake deadlines to speed up my writing process. I discovered a weakness of not being able to write down the words onto the paper; using a mentally placed deadline, I have no other option than to just throw the words onto the paper. Also, another weakness of mine…

Unfortunately, weaknesses are a challenge I do not cope with very well, especially in a scholastic setting. I was unaware of my writing weakness until English II displayed it in black and white. Furthermore, a considerable obstacle I found tough to overcome was confidence. Before turning in a test, a paper, or a project, I often underestimate myself in performing the task set before me. However, the results I receive constantly prove that I am capable of quality work. When my instructor assigned the first paper, I immediately began to focus all my efforts toward the assignment. After completing and submitting the paper, I patiently waited for the results. Not only did I earn a perfect score, I also received comments from my instructor stating how she admired…
