My Values
Values shape our lives. There are some things that we just can’t live without, some things we need on a day to day basis. Values like education, spirituality, and music are just some of the many examples of values. Striving to be well educated, to become a ‘somebody’; spiritual guidance in your life to be calmer, wiser; and music to let out emotions, to help express feelings, are just some of my values.
Education is the most important value for me; without education, you become a ‘nobody’. Knowledge is something I value greatly, because it changes the way you see the world. It helps you come to your own conclusions about things, and helps you figure out who you are. Educating yourself in every way you can, for example: acquiring different skills, learning about others’ cultures/the world, even something as simple as going to school, can greatly impact oneself. With knowledge, humanity can advance; we can develop what we have now, make it better, and improve our quality of life. However, if we neglect education, or deprive some people of education, we would be useless. We wouldn’t accomplish very much at all without it. But because there are so many resources today about almost everything there is to know, we really have no excuse. Education, for me, is the difference between an ignorant person, and one who perceives things with different eyes, more knowledgeable, and more experienced. It is the difference between a person who has veils in front of their eyes; veils of prejudice, ignorance, and superstitions, and one who doesn’t. I see it as what I’m going to do for the rest of my life, what job I will have, and big decisions I will make; and education will impact these greatly. Furthermore, as habitants of a 1st world country, we must “strain every nerve to acquire both inner and outer perfections, for the fruit of the human tree hath ever been and will ever be perfections both within and without. It is not desirable that a man be left without
