My Writing Class Analysis
Who I am My background as a writer only goes as far as high school assignments. Even then, I have not done much writing. My first year in high school, I do not remember us doing any writing. The most I remember writing is short essays, stories, and poetry for a class project. Other than that project, I do not recall doing much writing. The project was to write stories, essays, and poetry about our life. My second year in high school, I was supposed to write more because it was English 10 Writing, but I only think I wrote two essays the whole year. Because I read the whole play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare as a part of class, I had to research and write an essay on Julius Caesar that was one full page. Also, I wrote a persuasive essay for Virginia’s …show more content…

My junior year, I did more writing. My teacher assigned the class to read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Fast Food Nation, and to research topics present in both books. For example, I picked how people in lower economic situations get taken advantage of. The class was , also, assigned to write a satire. At the time, I was very interested in double standards and feminism. As a result, I wrote my satire on how women are treated only as sex symbols and the double standards on women. My senior year, I did a lot of AP English writing style things. Toward the end of the year, I wrote a research paper about why Shaka Zulu beat Julius Caesar in Epic Rap Battles. My writing background is not anything to brag about and I am not the most advanced writer. I hope to be able to write a research paper that has a persuasive argument. I , also, hope to be able to use the rhetorical triangle in my writing to

Personally, I’ve always felt I was a decent writer in all aspects regarding research and personal narratives. Considering those are subjects that interest me and that I love to read about. I struggle the most when it comes to making my writing hold a deeper or hidden message when the topics I am told to write about don’t interest me. Having to do rhetorical analysis with old literature and having to explain the main idea was my number one struggle in AP language and composition senior year. But other than that I felt, throughout high school, I enjoyed writing and taking a majority of the writing classes my school had to offer, not only because it was required but because it was something that teachers and myself felt I did acceptable work.…

The major writing assignment in Unit 2 is a rhetorical analysis essay. You will explain why an audience would or would not find your primary text persuasive. Truth be told, it’s been a few years since the last time I walked into a writing extensive course like English 1302. The last time that I sat in front of a computer, and slaved away for hours trying to create the perfect paper was in 2011, during my first semester at Texas Tech. It was English 101, and people had that it’s a class that I should not take lightly, but of course I thought I knew better. Let’s just say that I figured out, I was not the greatest writer in the world after all, but high school definitely made me think I was. Before I entered into my first semester of college level English, it was not unordinary for me to write a paper that received applause from teachers all the way through senior year. I wrote essays on books, such as the “The Great Gatsby” to critically breaking apart poems. One assignment that I remember vividly was my critical summary over Robert Frost’s Poem, “The Road Less Traveled”. Alas, those easy days are gone. Most of my time now is spent typing up emails to staff and teachers. Since I have been enrolled at Texas Tech, I have worked in Texas Tech’s School of Law in the Administrative Office. Much my work is behind a screen typing up emails. It has taught me a lot, so I feel as though I’ve become pretty proficient when it comes to writing up formal messages or relaying information in a professional way. I believe that I have a decent amount of experience when it comes to my writing abilities, and hopefully that will continue to grow throughout my time in this class.…

Writing class in my life has always been centered on analyzing mediums such as books, articles, movies, poems, and other things of that nature. The analysis would always consist of considering both viewpoints of an argument: what the author is saying and what the author is contrasting his or her viewpoints with. In addition to this, I have always been expected to incorporate my own thoughts on the subject of analysis. I feel as if I am a very good formal writer on serious subjects, and a not-so-great writer when it comes to talking about my own opinions and thoughts on an open topic. The best writing that I have ever done and was very proud of was the final paper for my Music Education philosophy course last semester. For this assignment we were expected to research a certain pedagogy, write about it, and synthesize our own pedagogy from what we had learned about that semester about all of the different pedagogies. Over the years from my first actual writing course in 9th grade, writing to me has developed from something I did to please the teacher into…

For this assignment, write an essay exploring the question of how you see yourself as a writer, what motivates you to write, what processes you use, etc. As an exploratory essay, the form will be rather “open” rather than “closed.” So rather than trying to structure the essay around a central thesis, organize it around the theme in question. This assignment may require you to think deeply about yourself and you may even discover new connections about yourself that you hadn't realized before. Remember to use vivid detail in your writing and avoid writing in generalities. Use specific events from your life and paint a picture of words for your reader to enjoy. Remember, if you find the essay boring, so will your reader!…

To start off with, the overall environment of being part of an AP/IB English class all throughout high school has made a positive affect on me. This has not only affected my familiarization with college level essays but I know what is expected from a higher level english course. As I have mentioned in my previous essay, I have written papers that were up to seventeen pages long. When I was in high school I often thought, why do I have to write so much, it would annoy me that every month was a new essay, now the idea of writing a lengthy paper has…

Over the course of the past three months, I have had the distinct pleasure of testing my writing capabilities through the Introduction to College Writing course. I have always had a passion for writing in all forms, but in previous years, the course work in grade-level English classes have been unchallenging of my writing ability. I have been heavily involved in Bonneville High School’s newspaper through journalism since my freshman year. This allowed me to strengthen my writing capability as I was drafting throughout the entire school year. I have never truly had to apply myself until I enrolled in English 101. Since the beginning of the class, I have faced various hardships while writing essays in unfamiliar styles, such as drafting a response to a scholarly article and synthesizing opposing perspectives. I have learned that I am more than capable in writing in different styles and that all of my work will be quality content regardless of the topic. I overcame the obstacles that have challenged me, and my essays exhibit that I am fully prepared to continue my work in English 102.…

My writing has many flaws I have known that since I started writing. But out of all the problems that I have always had, the one that bothers me the most is that I know I am not producing the best work I can possibly get out. General this class taught me to be a superior essayist. As I had said it had took into account me to show persuading contentions. In my English 101 class I never had really attempt to persuade a man that something was correct and something else wasn't right. I needed to principally clarify things and why they were the way that they were. In this class, I had learnt that I needed to ensure that kind coordinated up to make my paper believable and the impacts of what could happen on the off chance that it didn't, care for with. I feel extremely certain that not just that I can compose and ensure sorts coordinate up, yet that I would have the capacity to spot when they didn't coordinate up. The Nature of a person's writing style can sometimes show more about an individual then the words they actually write, the poetic twists in sentence flow or the professional structure of their grammar. Writing styles are as unique as fingerprints and to define them can be as arduous as mastering the skills required to properly form one. In the quest to define my own style I discovered a detail that I have determined encapsulates the style with which I write; I write with passion. When I say I am a passionate writer I don't mean that I love to write but more that my level of personal affection toward the subject I am writing on directly affects the emotional nature I write in. In other words, I write more expressively and artistically the…

In all of my English courses, I believe that I have struggled the most in my writing compositions. For example, my earliest memory of my composing frustration was when I was in sixth grade. My teacher, Ms. Boineau, told us we could write our first paper on anything, I decided to write a long, complex football story that was roughly three pages long. When we had to peer review, I was paired up with the class bully. He wrote a paper entitled, “ I like dogs.” I remember his opening sentences vividly, “I like dogs; Dogs are nice; Dogs are good.” When I read his paper, I thought my essay was a masterpiece in comparison. A few days later, we received back the grades for our papers. I received a grade of 81 in comparison to “I like dogs” which received…
