My Writing Style Analysis
Judy
I agree with you when you talk about the subject having to be interesting. I think that when people pick up a book, the first thing they do is read the back cover to find out what the book is about. If the subject is not interesting they usually don't bother to read the book.

Troy,
I agree with you on how punctuation is important. How would lets say even a professional for writing a book, he would have punctuation errors.

(Soyun) You are so write about the writer being at the level of his/her reader. Writers should definitely keep in mind their readers. And have find ways to communicate his passion for writing through his use of words, etc. or whatever he's talking about.

Xio Ling I agree that a writer should indicate who

I also consider an important feature having enough supporting materials, such as examples, to support the argument or thesis.

focus- making something a center of interest
A good writer should be able to focus on a particular subject because it would be easier for a writer to put words on paper. Being able to focus will allow a writer to finish a piece without dozing off.

Jackie,
What does writing STYLE mean. How do you create a style in writing?

Level of Story: the writer should keep in mind who she or he is writing for(is it for kids or adults?) If the writing is for kids, there should not be hard words and the content of the writing should fit kids. If it's for adults, there can be hard terms.
Interest: The writer should have interst on what he or she is writing or else it is not going to be interesting to readers.

Structure: important to have a well organized paper and it helps the writer to oragnize their own thoughts

Examples: Important to back up your statements with facts

That's so broad.
These are indeed important elements.

* style and word choice
It's important for a wrting to use formal words instead of informal words (slang). A good writing should choose appropriate words in order to avoid sexist language, be concise, and not being wordy.
* organization
It's an essential trait that the organizational structure of a writing should be sound, and the arguments flow.

For good writing I feel you need to have an outline. This is important because that way you can start a body and know what it might look like for your paper. You should always have a topic sentence, thesis, this way you have a direction of your paper and you know what your going to be writing about.

I think that the subject matter should be Interesting.
It has to hold the readers attention so that they will continue to read the rest of the article or story.

Good grammar also is crucial feature.
Misplaced commas and periods can confuse a reader.

I think that a feature for "good writing" is style. Different writers have different styles which attracts certain readers. If a writer has a unique and interesting style a reader will be attracted to a piece of writing even if the topic is not

    To every great paper written there is a great writer behind it. It is crucial that when writing any type of entry, it follows a certain criteria in order for there to be organization and clarity. Over the course of being in school for the majority of my life and having an English class basically every year; it’s became more clear to me how a paper should properly be written which is simply following the “5- Paragraph Rhetoric Model.” With this tool, my english/writing classes have been quite easy as this model allows me to organize my ideas, offer clear understanding to my audience and helps to minimize the time spent on trying to write a paper(as I know what goes where.) To begin with, organizing ones ideas when writing any type of paper makes the process a lot more smoother.…

    The most important reason to follow a structured writing process is to make the writing clear and understanding for the audience. Structure is opportune in several ways that are both time saving as well as just plain out easy to work with. Structure lays the paper out for the writer in a clear and uncomplicated to work with manner. Having the paper already laid out is a colossal time saver. The time saved is very useful, because it gives the writer the opportunity to take that time and spend it on the contents of the paper rather than the lay out. Structure allows the reader to definitely comprehend the writing. Using structure compels organization in the papers, which has numerous effects. Having structure prevents writers from distressing how to include their ideas into their writing and allows them to arrange their ideas in a predetermined area of the piece of writing. The structure produces an exceptional amount of time that would have been wasted, and the extra time can be spent on refining the writing.…

    Readers and Writers One common myth about writing is that everything comes naturally to the writer, everything in literature comes easily and instinctually. However, in the article, “The Inspired Writer vs. The Real Writer” by Sarah Allen claims that there is no such thing as the “Inspired Writer”, it is simply a figure that writing comes easily to, a figure that doesn't truly exist, but the real writer comes with real struggles as well. In the article, “What is Academic Writing?” by L. Lennie Irvin states the meaning of what real academic writing is.…

    Whenever you want to attract the readers’ curiosity you should ask yourself why did this subject caught your attention. If you explain to others why do you wanted to research on a particular subject, chances are you will find other people that may feel the same way as you do or they will simply find it intriguing on why is it that people are curious about a particular person or subject. When I start reading a book or and article, I find that if the writer does not catches my curiosity and or makes the first couple of sentences interesting, chances are, I will not continue to read the rest of the article. The way the article is written, it will help us evaluate, analyze or explain to the…

    Do I agree with Bruce Ballenger? I feel that I absolutely agree with him. If you would have asked me in High School if I agreed, I would have said no. My English teacher in High School was much like the teacher Ballenger describes in this essay as Mrs. O’Neill. Every paper we had to write had nothing but red pen marks correcting bad sentences. Or as Ballenger put it “some high priest of good grammar whose angry scribbling occupied the margins of our papers.” She was much more critical of our grammar and punctuation then what we were writing. This was very discouraging to me and a lot of my fellow classmates. I then became more critical of myself as a writer and how I was writing and not what I was writing. I was paying more attention to other details instead of what I was thinking about writing, which ended up making it very stressful to write. So by the end of my English class, I was fairly decent with grammar. In fact friends and family of mine occasionally have asked me to proof read papers of theirs, and I find myself doing nothing but fixing grammar issues instead of actually reading the paper for the story it is.…

    While it is important to include factual information of the writer's proposed idea, it is equally important to establish a voice within the piece. Each article of information that comes from a professional standpoint can be a stepping stone towards the finished product of the writer's work. Weaving an authoritative voice simultaneously strengthens the paper as well as the validity of the writer's work.…

    Outlining methods is one of the most important things to do before you write. Outlining is used to present the main points or topics of a given subject, often used as a rough draft or summary of the content of a document. It is really important to use this method before writing because it can make your topic more cohesive, and will focus your main points. It might also help you to see how ideas are related and where connections or transitions are necessary between sections of your paper. By creating an outline first, it’s easier to decide whether or not you’re clearly communicating your point.…

    Academic Writing

    In academic writing the purpose, audience, tone and content are important because without one the writers point will not be expressed to it s full content. The writer has to have a purpose or they will not have a subject to write about. Having a purpose is like the hart of it all because if there was not a purpose there would not be a story or a reason. When writing a writer has to think about what age will be reading his work which then will in tell how he or she is going to word there story or subject. If a writer did not think of the age of his or her readers then one would not have the vocabulary, understanding or the meaning of what is being read to them or what they are reading. When a writer writes a story it will be different then when he or she writes to friends and family. The tone is the attitude of what is being written. It is suppose to captivate the readers to make them want to continue reading till the end. With tone the writer can also express feeling and emotion by the way they use their choice of words and exclamations. The content impacts the readers feel about the subject at the end of the story or subject that is being written about. They should be able to follow your story easily, it should flow together like a poem the story should inform them of the subject, and should not leave them with any questions at the end. In academic writing it is important to have the purpose, audience, tone, and content in your writing…
