NYU Personal Statement

With rushing trains, crammed people, the calm breeze of a park or the gusts of a subway, NYU is no conventional college with its unique campus but I’m no conventional girl. While beginning my college search I resented how isolated a lot the campuses I was looking at were. Why would want to go out to the middle of nowhere to learn, only to assimilate back into the real world after four years? I want to be in the middle of the action. I want New York. I want NYU.

Growing up close to New York City I’ve learned to take advantage of the endless possibilities the city can provide. The notion that I can have so many opportunities accessible while in college is crucial to me. At NYU, I'll be able to take internships and begin to meet people in any field before exiting college. I’ll get the education I want at NYU while staying in a city that I love and whose assets I want to continue to take advantage of. I’ll use the city for all it’s worth, getting myself involved in both the school’s community and in New York’s vibrant lifestyle. For me NYU is the best of both the adult, job pursing world and the college experience.
Walking around Greenwich I saw a multitude of NYU signs hanging on stores as either as safe havens or discounted to students. I regularly traveled to the Poly campus and was able to get a more complete idea of what my life could be going to NYU. As I explored I noticed how certain areas were concentrated with NYU students while others were a mix of pedestrians and students. The appeal of NYU is that I have the option to be in a student driven environment or, if I need, can step out to the city to gain insight or experience in whatever I want. A top tier education is imperative but NYU choses to go a step further and create a learning environment that not only includes their campus but the whole
