Its exact cost in human lives is unknown, but casualties may have totaled 50 million service personnel and civilians killed. Many nations suffered the highest loses, military and civilians. On august 6, 1945; a single bomb dropped by single airplane destroyed the city, leading to the end of Second World War. Michihiko Hachiya lived through that day and kept the journal of his experiences. Hichiya’s journal mainly explains about the devastating impact of nuclear explosion on Japanese land, medical challenges to overcome with, and patriotism of Japanese people. Firstly, Hachiya’s journal explains the devastating impact of nuclear explosion emotional and physical aspect of Japanese people. In the journal, author describes the effect of atomic blast from the first flash in the early morning as he rested from his night as an air warden at hospital. During the explosion, people too close to hypocenter died immediately and all other suffered physically and emotionally. Hiroshima diary mainly recorded from the colleague: relating the story of four middle school students who huddled together in the street, and were so badly burnt from the blast. They were found to be dead in the same street. After the destructive explosion, all utilities and transportation services were disrupted for varying length of time resulting critical condition in life of public. Hichiya also explains the emotional confusion of Japanese public how to overcome the crisis due to enormous destruction of life and property.
