Why Is Ww2 Justified And Unjustifiable
WWII was one of the most important wars fought in History. During the war many lives were lost and areas were destroyed. WWII was broken into two main areas, where fighting took place and these included the Pacific Theater and the European Theater. The European Theater came to an end when Adolf Hitler and the Nazis were defeated, but the Pacific Theater was still in progress. The Pacific Theater is generally forgotten when it comes to WWII, but in reality the war between the US and Japan was strenuous and horrific. This war did not seem like there would ever be an end until the US decided to unleash their new weapon of mass destruction, the atomic bomb. I feel that the bomb was unnecessary and unjustifiable for a variety of reasons. One reason was the amount of innocent citizens killed or injured due to the bomb. The bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which were two highly populated areas at the time. Hiroshima was roughly 340,000 and Nagasaki was …show more content…
After the bombing there was no food available and the water was contaminated. The population was desperate, this resulted in the loss of even more lives due to the poisoning. Another issue was pregnancies due to the bombing if a mother had been subjected to the bomb their baby would most likely be deformed, and for those who wanted kids they couldn't have any because they would be at the same risk of deformity due to the affects the bombing causes in a person's body. This poisoning stayed with people for many years following the bombings they couldn't escape the side effects. Also the whole population had to leave their homes and evacuate the infected area. Innocent families were forced to leave all their belongings because they were all subjected to contamination from the gases from the atomic bombs. Although they were lucky enough to escape the initial attack their lives were changed

If the war continued, an invasion would be needed and such an invasion “… would have cost an estimated million casualties,” (The Decision to Drop the Bomb). It was even believed by President Truman “… that the bombs saved Japanese lives as well,” (The Decision to Drop the Bomb). Even though the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, the quick end to the war they brought saved more lives in the long run than those that were lost in the…

The second target, Nagasaki also had a immense effect. The death toll in Nagasaki by the end of 1945 was at 60,000 to 80,000 people. There was mass destruction all over the city of Hiroshima. Before the bomb striked Hiroshima there were 90,000 buildings standing tall all around the city and out those 90,000 only 28,000 remained. The doctors and nurses were limited; the city had 200 doctors and only 20 were alive and out 1,780 nurses only 150 were alive and capable to work.…

The bombs caused survivors to have detrimental psychological ailments which followed them for the rest of their life. Because the atomic bombs were much more powerful that any other bombs dropped before it, the consequences were much more serious and widespread. Many survivors of the attacks describe the aftermath of the bombings as a sight of hell, or even a “nuclear apocalypse” with the flash of the bombs being so bright and the dust covering bodies, both dead and alive (Nicholls, 66). The radius of destruction caused by the barn spanned from the center of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to the the nearby countryside, taking thousands of lives and harming many more. Buildings were decimated, with many thousands of people dying under…

In the final year of World War Two, the Allies prepared for what was anticipated to be a very costly and devastating invasion of the Japanese mainland. This was preceded by a U.S. firebombing campaign that destroyed 67 Japanese cities and the Battle of Okinawa, wherein almost 100,000 civilians died. Having developed the world’s first nuclear weapons in the Manhattan Project, the US Government made the decision to drop two atomic bombs on Japan. On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped the first atomic bomb ever used in combat on the town of Hiroshima. Three days later, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb on Nagasaki. Combined, the bombs killed almost 150,000 people immediately, and they are attributed to more than 170,000 more…

In the aftermath over 60 cities were bombed by Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bombs caused so much damage to the country that their society was will always be scarred by it. It was important for the U.S. to defend themselves but many of the people who died had no part in the war. The method the U.S. chose to use was morally wrong. In Hiroshima, one hundred forty thousand people died and in Nagasaki eighty thousand people died. Most of the people died after the bomb because of the radiation. The radiation would kill peoples white blood cells and if you have dead blood cells they can not fight off infection and then you will die. The radiation would also leave marks on your skin that would most likely never come off. The Japanese had a lot of damage done by the the atomic bombs and they did not deserve it. William Leahy thought the exact same thing “The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons”…

Some may even say that being hit by the atomic bomb was better than being hit by a fire bomb; the atomic bomb, when right underneath, vaporized people on spot, not a lot of pain; the fire bomb burns you to death. Also with this, the atomic bomb is new and has never been used before now in history. While helping to end the war with Japan, the bombs taught a lesson to the rest of the world as to just how destructive this weapon really is. Also, the USSR was about to demand joint occupation of Japan, but the war was over soon after the bombings. So the bombs not only ended the war with Japan, but a problem with the…
