Americans have been in the same war for many years. Fighting for the same reason and haven’t completely won the war yet. Americans have lost many of their rights and they have not gotten them back what is rightfully theirs. Americans won’t stop fighting until they get what they get. In the Civil Rights Movement, most people got the rights they wanted, but others still haven’t got what they want. In the story “Hum” by Naomi Shihab Nye and “The Holocaust” by the History.com Staff both shows how people’s rights were taken away from them and how they are fighting for them.
The story “Hum” by Naomi Shihab Nye is about a kid who moved from Palestine and after the 9/11 attack, he gets treated differently because people thought that he could be a terrorist. People are treated differently in the way that people look. Naomi Shihab Nye states,"Go HOME," said a
"Your people are murderers” (Shihab Nye 1). This quote shows how someone was treated badly because of the way that they looked. She also states, “His people? No one had said the hijackers were Palestine” (Shihab Nye 2) This quote shows how the people assume that it was someone from Palestine who hijacked the plane and treating a kid badly because he looks like he is from there. These text evidences relate to the theme because kids are treating him like he was the one that killed someone, but he didn’t. People think that he is a terrorist even though he is a kid. People shouldn’t be looking at other the way that they look they should be looking at their personality.
