Narrative Essay On All Year Round School
When Mason and Millie found out there is School All Year Round
As my eyes fluttered open I looked at the clock, 5:30 am. I got out of bed took a shower, blowed dried my hair, and brushed my teeth. Afterward, I went downstairs, ate breakfast and headed off to school. When I got to school I went to my zero hour, 25 mins later the bell for passing time went off. I ran into Mason on the way to class and we talked then went to our first hour, FACS. While we were getting our bellwork done the morning announcements come on. “Good Morning everyone and welcome back to school!” Cheerful Mr. Shepherd said
“I have a big announcement to make today. Start in May next year we will be having school all year round!”
I sat stunned in my chair. We're going to have school all year round?! I thought shakily. When Mason and I met up after class we got right to the problem, school all year round. We thought and thought and thought but, couldn’t come up with anything. Just then the tardy bell rang and we zoomed to our second hour. I didn’t pay any attention during class because all I could think about was a way to get the superintendent to change his mind about all year round school. After class, I dashed to find Mason and, from what I could tell

While we were at lunch I walked around the lunch room and asked people to sign the petition. I was surprised when not very many people signed the petition. When lunch was over I tried to get more people to sign it during passing time, that didn’t go so well either. Towards the end of the day I was called up to the principal's office, my classmates did a lot of “ahhs” because they thought I was in trouble. When I got there Mason was sitting outside the principal's office too. I thought why were Mason and I called up to the office? I don’t remember doing anything bad and I know for sure Mason wouldn’t. We both went into the office together and Mr. Shepherd asked us to sit

The question everyone's asking it should we have year round school? Well, I'm here to answer that question with a little help from Brigid Schulte on the Washington post. We should not have year round school because it can cut into family activities. Here is some thoughts from the Washington post. Still, when Mount Vernon Community School first considered the idea of going to a modified calendar a few years ago, it was a battle royale. Some middle-class parents argued that it was important for children to lie on their backs and watch the clouds for hours over a long summer break. This post is by Brigid Schulte and posted on 2009/06/05. This is why Michigan schools should not go to a year round calendar because it…

Why do we have school for 9 months straight and then lose all of the knowledge we learned because we are too busy swimming in the pool and not caring about the date of World War 2? Students should have school all year round because we can learn so much more, we won’t have to remember everything we learned from 3 months ago, and relationships between students and teachers will be much stronger.…

One of the biggest issues that comes with year round school programs is the possibility of decreased quality family time, as many people use the long summer break to take extended vacations. However, most of the breaks provided by the yearlong calendar allow for at least two weeks of down time. In fact, parents with year round students find that they “appreciate the flexibility provided by year-round schooling, as it can be easier (and cheaper) to plan vacations during off-peak times.”…

Ring Ring! there's go the alarm clock, Oh yeah! I have to go to school. Think about it, three months of not using anything that we learned during the school year and we are expected to effectively jump back from that. With year-round schooling, we can better transition to the next grade without having to recap what we learned in the previous year. This point can be proven in three basic concepts; First, less schooldays wasted, more days progressing and advancing. Secondly, year-round schooling will create less stress for students and teachers . Finally, information can be retained faster, save time for the teachers, and improve test grades.…

All of the seasons are great. Winter is really fun with Christmas and the snow. Fall is also great because of the leafs and football games. But I would have to say that my favorite season of all is summer. Summer is the best, it is baseball season I love to play baseball I have been playing baseball ever since I was a kid. Baseball is the my second favorite sport (First is football). Baseball is you just play the game and have fun. Even if you are losing it is still great to be out on a baseball field having fun with your friends. For example this year my freshman baseball was pretty good but not the best. There were some games we won and some games we lost. It's always fun to win. But even when you do lose you still have a great time out on a baseball field with your team.…

In America, most children spend all year wishing that it was summer, so that they do not have to be in school. They could probably never imagine not having those three months to do as they please. Would they be able to survive without it? As it turns out, two million of the nation’s children already do. An extended year-round school calendar would immensely improve the problem areas in the education system, including summer learning loss, the wide range of academic capabilities of students, and providing costly summer care. Jenile Jaquez, an eleven year old who attends year round school, said the following when interviewed by Time for Kids:…

When most student are asked about year-round school they think it means giving up their summer, but that’s not exactly right. Year-round school doesn’t necessarily mean giving up summer vacation. There are variety of calendars school districts follow. The current school year is based on an outdated agricultural model, when families need to use their children to help them with a harvest. Most families aren’t like that anymore. It’s time to update the school calendar to reflect modern society. Year-round schooling calendar would be beneficial to students.…

Because children were often needed to assist with farming during the summer months, this calendar was established and coincided with the needs of our agrarian nation (Research Spotlight n.d.). However, times, as well as our nation, have changed immensely since the traditional school calendar was implemented and within the last decade there has been a major effort throughout our nation’s school districts to change their calendars to a year-round schedule. The “year-round” title associated with the modified calendar is actually a misnomer, as the year-round schedule is not an extension, but actually just a reorganization of the traditional school calendar (Year-Round Schooling 2004). Palmer and Bemis (1999) state that year-round schools are defined as ones that “reorganize their calendar such that blocks of instruction and vacation are spread throughout the year to make learning more continuous. Such programs do not add instructional days to those required of students, but simply reallocate the approximately 180 school…

As modern society advances at astonishing rates, it is a common occurrence that many mandated policies are rarely reviewed, and often become outdated. One of the best instances of this could be depicted by the modern school year. The school year was optimized for a different time, and as such, needs to be changed. The change to an all year school would allow for improved learning, greater knowledge, and an increased number of breaks throughout the school year. The need for change in the school calendar is very crucial, and be beneficial for multiple purposes.…

One gloomy morning, 17th October’1992, France. At 7:30 AM, I got prepared for school. I swiftly ate my supper and headed towards the garage. For the first time, my mother drove us to school for the reason that father was gone for an essential meeting to New York, along with my bother. I reached there and noticed that my friends, Ella and Cynthia were not present. In fact, the whole Grade 9 was not present. I felt uneasy. I quickly rocketed to the administration office in tense, to inform if where did grade 9 go? As soon as I reached there I saw the Vice Principal, Mr. Henry. He was tall gentleman with a buxom superstructure and firm shoulders. I quickly gained my confidence and asked him politely “Mr. Henry, where is the entire grade 9?” He replied, “Don’t you know Alice? They are gone to an overnight field trip to Luxembourg. They’ll return today. You should have been known Alice; you’re here in this International School since ages”. I got astonished. Mr. Henry gave me the permission to stay in his office until the students return. I waited for a long time, almost for an hour. I started to feel insecure and bored to tears. I stood up…
