It all started in Grade 12, I was sitting at 235 pounds mostly due to playing hours on hours of World of Warcraft and drinking pop. I started to run and waste time in the gym, and by waste time I mean just do mass amount of curls. I successfully got to 190 pounds which I thought I would look great at but my arms were tooth picks, and I was skinny fat, which in my opinion is just as bad as being fat. I found the biggest guy in the gym, and asked him what he did. He directed me to “Starting Strength” by Mark Rippetoe. He told me to follow the 5X5 program, eat everything in sight. I ate tubs of ice cream, a couple of foot long subs for lunch washed down with a liter of chocolate milk . My mom became accustomed to making meals for a second family. If I was awake I was eating, mostly things I shouldn’t be. I added 50-150lbs on my three major lifts Bench, Squat, and Deadlift. Still I wasn’t happy when I looked in the mirror; I was 276 pounds of mostly fat.
After blowing out multiple pairs of jeans, and getting dizzy from tying my shoes. I decided it was time to lose weight. I found a no carb diet, which had me eating 30g or less of carbs daily, with high protein, and moderate fat consummation. Fast forward seven months, I was 195 pounds 10% body fat. What the heck?? I still didn’t have abs nor did I look like I even lift.
