But the TCRR split their herds in half and this lead to some indians not getting as much resources as they usually would. So the government decided to kill off the bison (doc 5) to lower the amount of native americans. This would help with taking land and moving them around. This would also help with more food for americans, if they ever needed it. The next and final point i want to make is how many battles and massacres that there was during this time period with the expansion of the west. Most likely one of the worst was the sand creek massacre. Two hundred natives were killed. Most of these deaths and massacres were for 2 things. Gold and land, these were important to many americans for money and food. But now it is 1 illegal to kill and 2 inhumane.
