that helped me develop into the person I am today, but at times nature helped mode the morals I was developing.
When growing up with a single mother numerous amount of things can be a lot more challenging versus someone who grew up with two parents. So as a kid, my mother quickly put us on a weekly schedule that we were expected to follow no matter what. So I do believe that behavior patterns are fixed. Especially as a young kid when you are exposed to the same activities and environments throughout your life, you gather up habitats without even knowing. For example, growing up every morning when I arose my mother would make it a point to come in my room before work to ensure that I had straighten up my room and made up the bed before jetting to school. I am about to be twenty-one and live out on my own; I still get up every morning to straighten and make up my bed just as I have done for countless amount of years. This is an example of how I feel nurture effected a huge portion in my development with the repetition of events it allowed me to repeat them now. Another thought of fixed behavior is determinism. According to simplypsychology.org, determinism is the thought of how individual will turn out to be based on the certain environment (McLeod, 2013). An example would be that an individual growing up with alcoholic parents will more than likely become alcoholics themselves. In coherence with nurture determinism depends upon the action set forth before that helps determine the outcome.
When an individual have been exposed to routines and schedules, most of their lives, they become set in some sort of trance. Their body is so confident in the things that they do every day till there is often no need or want for change. Unlike nature, which is what you are generally born with, nurture encourages consistency due to the experiences the individual go through. In a way consistency and being fixed in a behavior set goes hand and hand. If an individual becomes set in a mind state are easily able to continue that same attitude throughout their life. For example, I have been involved in various activities at one time such as cheerleading, school, and managing a job, and my body quickly got in a state that each week it already knew the exact schedule ahead because it became to be the same each week. At that moment, the environment that I presented my body with each week helped my body develop a sense of memory and stability. In terms making me stuck in a life that is already predetermined by my events.
There is no certain process that is a guaranteed factor of development in individuals. Nature and nurture is involved in various parts in how everyone does develop. I personally believe that you learn best by the affection and environment that you are presented during growth. Whether or not individuals can become fixed or has the free will to choose their behavior during this period will definitely depend on the individual at question and their situations. Personally, we are all more influenced by a fixed mind from ideas thought of before rather than to just spontaneously decide to do something different.
Hence, nature versus nurture has been a topic of controversy for many years.
People are different on their opinions about the concept for development. Although it solely depends upon the person to decide, researchers have still done several studies to try and prove one side is more influential than the other, I personally believe my development came from the process of nurture. Majority of my life I spent living with my single mother and three older siblings so experiences were the things that I learned skills from. At that point in my life, I was vulnerable and understanding to the lessons I was being taught. During certain steps of growth, individuals become fixed in certain behavioral concepts, and are unaware of change that is exposed to them. I know that I am a victim of this because I have cheered ten years of my life and went to school for almost eighteen years, till now that is all my schedule consists of an it does not know how to do other things that might spark the attention of others. Along with becoming fixed in a certain behavioral mindset, you become consistent as well with how you do things. For example, with me being busy so much with cheer and school my weeks generally are consistent besides the time the events occur each week. So as it turns out experience and environment does play a role in how you may develop into. With that being said, it is not always the definite termination that you will turn out that way, but it gives you a great synapse of how you
may.
