MY FAVORITE TV SHOW
When it comes to talking about my favorite TV show, it is hard to choose just one, because I really enjoy more than one; fortunately, they are all related, and I can say that talent shows are my favorite, especially The Voice and The X Factor. I like how these shows are about regular people with the dream of being successful in the music industry and how they pursue their dream through a hard process that pushes them to give the best of themselves in every performance.
Even though The Voice and The X factor share the same concept to find new singing talent, they have different formats created for different people. First, The Voice was originally created by John de Mol in Netherlands, but it was sold to several other countries around the world. On the Voice, the singing auditions are 'blind'. The jury is turned with their back to the competitors. Once 'selected' (by pushing a button), the juror turns towards the competitor, makes it "all about the voice." After these blind auditions, the coaches will train their competitors through knock-out battles and public voting rounds until there is one competitor left, who will be named as 'The Voice' (Talpa)
On the other hand, The X factor was created by Simon Cowell in the United Kingdom. The show is primarily concerned with identifying singing talent, though appearance, personality, stage presence and dance routines are also important elements of many performances. Each judge is assigned one of four categories. Through the live shows, the judges act as mentors for their category, helping contestants decide song choices, styling and staging, while judging contestants from other categories. (Syco)
They both succeed worldwide, and they have produced some artists that are very popular these days. Not only the winners of the competition but also runners up sign contracts with record labels after the exposure from the contest.
Besides, these shows present interesting stories about the contestant’s

The show I chose is called The Big Bang Theory. The show is a comedy show themed around a group of nerdy scientists who are neighbors with a beautiful outgoing waitress. One of the nerds has a romantic interest in the neighbor but thinks he has no chance with her as she is out of his league. There is definite social inequality here as the nerds see themselves below the neighbor’s status in regards to relationships and finding love.…

As community members, we have responsibilities. One of our most important responsibilities is social responsibility because it requires all of us to make a difference. The issue in the video is using the cell phone while driving. Using a cell phone while driving is an organizational issue because it disrupts the justice system and results in many victims. According to the No Phone Zone video an estimated 812,000 people use mobile devices while driving, one out of three teen drivers admit to texting while driving, 5,870 people were killed and 515,000 people were injured because of distracted drivers (2010). This growing ethical issue has compelled people to take a stand on April 30, 2010 to form an awareness day called No Phone Zone Day (No Phone Zone Day, 2010). The 31st episode marked the grand finale of the 8th series of what, between you and me, looked more like a refinery system of moulding and mentoring, young and slightly older people developing their singing skills. After great auditions –some hideous quite funny too – the acts were divided into 4 categories and then mentored by the judges individually. The twist was - we got to vote for the act we liked the most - so the power, even though shared, was on our side! The judges were the handsome Gary Barlow from Take That with the boys category, the glamorous soloist Kelly Rowland with the girls, Tulisa Contostavlos from N-dubs had the bands and the Irish folk Louis Walshwith with the over 26s. The host was the ever so efficient and always very partial – you have to love him - Dermot O’Lear. XFactor proved to be very popular with an average of 14 million viewers per show. Can you imagine all the pennies adding up if all viewers pick up the phone to vote? That is a lot of revenue!…

Reality television is a genre of television programming that presents purportedly unscripted dramatic or humorous situations, documents actual events, and usually features ordinary people or even professional actors. The genre has existed in some form or another since the early years of television. Programs in the reality television genre are commonly called "reality shows" and often are produced in series. Documentaries and nonfictional programming such as news and sports shows are usually not classified as reality shows. Reality television frequently portrays a modified and highly influenced form of reality, utilizing sensationalism to attract viewers and so to generate advertising profits. Subjects of a reality show may be given some rudimentary directions off-screen, but the point is to allow the performers to act and react as normally as possible.…

    Reality Shows: Real or Fake

A television reality show features talent culled from the ranks of 'ordinary' people, not professionally trained actors. Reality show producers typically shoot hundreds of hours of footage per episode and use creative editing to create a narrative thread. Subjects of a reality show may be given some rudimentary directions offscreen, but the point is to allow the performers to act and react as normally as possible. A reality show is not to be confused with a documentary, in which the subjects are asked to ignore the cameras and behave naturally. Many reality show producers encourage participants to play to the cameras as characters or use private taped conversations, called confessionals, as a form of narration.…

I try to stay as updated as possible when it comes to other leagues, other formats, and so on. After having watched it long enough, I figured, 'Why not try it out here?' And since I have had prior experience in organizing events and the old format battles, it was a matter of applying it to a much larger scale. This was during the last semester of my final year in college and despite my academic requirements and all sorts of personal setbacks, I just proceeded to plan and organize.
