When it comes to talking about my favorite TV show, it is hard to choose just one, because I really enjoy more than one; fortunately, they are all related, and I can say that talent shows are my favorite, especially The Voice and The X Factor. I like how these shows are about regular people with the dream of being successful in the music industry and how they pursue their dream through a hard process that pushes them to give the best of themselves in every performance.
Even though The Voice and The X factor share the same concept to find new singing talent, they have different formats created for different people. First, The Voice was originally created by John de Mol in Netherlands, but it was sold to several other countries around the world. On the Voice, the singing auditions are 'blind'. The jury is turned with their back to the competitors. Once 'selected' (by pushing a button), the juror turns towards the competitor, makes it "all about the voice." After these blind auditions, the coaches will train their competitors through knock-out battles and public voting rounds until there is one competitor left, who will be named as 'The Voice' (Talpa)
On the other hand, The X factor was created by Simon Cowell in the United Kingdom. The show is primarily concerned with identifying singing talent, though appearance, personality, stage presence and dance routines are also important elements of many performances. Each judge is assigned one of four categories. Through the live shows, the judges act as mentors for their category, helping contestants decide song choices, styling and staging, while judging contestants from other categories. (Syco)
They both succeed worldwide, and they have produced some artists that are very popular these days. Not only the winners of the competition but also runners up sign contracts with record labels after the exposure from the contest.
