- July 2008- When I lived in Broward, I had a humongous mango tree that my cousin, Kenneth, and I liked to climb. It was still summer when we decided to get an old mattress and put it by the tree so we could relax there. One of those days my little cousin, Kevin, wanted to learn how to climb the mango tree. Back then Kenneth was still young and devious; he treated his little brother and sister (Kevin & Kelly) horribly. So that one day someone, I’m guessing it was Kenneth, moved the mattress. So I stayed down incase they decided to drop a few mangos, but to my surprise my little cousin was hanging from a branch, which had not yet broken because he was so small. I had not yet noticed the moved mattress, as I was watching my cousin try to grab his little brother. But I was mistaking when I thought he was trying to grab him because he was just stretching his arm to tickle Kevin. And as I told Kenneth to stop, Kevin just let go with laughter. As I remember it, it looked as though it was all in slow motion; Kenneth laughing on the mango tree, Kevin with eyes wide open falling to his pain. As I watched Kevin’s impact with the ground, he seemed to bounce about two times. After a few hours the doctor said he fractured his arm.
-January 2009- It was a Saturday, Kenneth and I were riding our bikes by H.D. Perry Middle School, my original middle school. We decided to stay at a park near by while listening to music on my iPod. We were both on bikes, but decided to sit on a bench. As we were listening to music these two kids came to talk to us. They looked a little suspicious so I looked around them to check on the bikes and saw two other kids taking our bikes. As I pushed the two kids in front of me aside Kenneth and I started to run to the other two kids. I ran as fast as I could and for the first time I ran faster than Kenneth. But as I ran to the kids they got on the bikes and just

It was the middle of the summer and I was playing baseball in Jackson, Mississippi. I was playing for the Goodlettsville All-Stars. We were playing in the little league 10u world series. To get to the championship we had to win 8 games and it was single elimination. We had won 7 out of 8 games and we were playing our 8th game and it was the bottom of the third and I was playing left field. In the second inning I was felling drowsy so my dad gave me a Snickers and a Red Bull. I was for sure not drowsy anymore. I could feel the sugar rushing through my veins and I was on the balls of my feet waiting for the pitch to be thrown. When my pitcher threw the ball I had my hand in my glove ready for the ball if it was hit to me. WHAM! The ball was hit so far up in the air it looked like it hit the sun. When I realized that the ball was coming to me I was way too far back so I had to run as fast as I could and dive for the ball. I jumped as far as I could and stretched as far as I could. I barely caught it by snow coning the ball. Everybody was so proud of me that the screamed as loud as they could. We went on to win the game 4-1. The next day I woke up, jumped out of the bed, and put my uniform on. I was so excited, I was in the championship! I…

Sixth grade, the first year in the new middle school building. It was about the third week into school and a teacher came up to me and asked me to watch over this kid named Justin. (He was different from everyone else, he had a birth-defect.) I said sure, why not, he seems to be nice. He only had one friend, and that one friend I wouldn't say was a good one. Later that week I was called into the disciplinarian's office, her name was Mrs. Landry. She was the seventh grade Social Studies teacher. So wanted me to tell her everything that happened, I didn't what to tell her,…

In the winter of sixth grade me and my family had gone on a ski trip at MT. Hood. So far everything was going great I was finally getting the hang of snowboarding because it was my first year. Snowboarding was a little scary but I was very scared of the ski lift I don't really know why but i was very scared to get off of it. Later that day i did not know that my fear of ski lifts was about to get a way lot worse. I was riding on the ski lift when all of the sudden I noticed my hair was stuck. The lift was almost finished by the time I had noticed which gave me no time to get it unstuck from the chair. The ride had come to a stop when the people operating the ride noticed I could not get off. But by the time they had noticed it was too late…

My parents own six rental houses around St. Cloud, so the majority of my summers are at these houses, fixing things, mowing, and remodeling. On this specific summer day in 2006, my dad and I were repairing a fence at the house that I have always referred to as the black shutter house. I wasn’t actually helping of course, I was running around the fenced in yard, picking the tiger lilies on the side of the house and doing whatever six year olds do. I remember walking over to my father’s silver pick-up truck and grabbing a socket wrench from his tool bucket. I guess I thought I was trying to help father fix the fence because I walked over to the fence gate that wasn’t attached to the rest of the fence and started hitting it. Now this fence wasn’t a simple wooden fence, it was a metal chain link fence where the top forms a sharp point, so when I hit the fence it fell down on me, crushing me and cutting open the back of my right leg.…

Me and her are throwing back and forth and I miss it, before I can grab it, it hits her brothers Lego Death Star. I look up at her and all I see is fear, she grabs my arm and screams to run. We make it up the first flight of stairs but at the top of the second flight is a very narrow hallway and you had to take a sharp right turn to get to her room and I tripped and fell hard on the wood stairs, she was already in her room screaming at me to get up but I couldn't…

I come from a big Mexican family, so it was a good thing we had a really big backyard. I am the youngest grandchild out of eighteen, the oldest was forty-one and I the youngest was seven at the time. The closest cousin to me in age at the time was eleven and I always tired to hangout with my older cousins. On this summer afternoon my cousins and I decided to build an obstacle course thought out my house to see who could run it the fastest. We made it start from my front yard and it weaved through the living room, my sister’s room, my parent’s room, then out the back door where it ended. My parents are the…
