First Entry - After Lady Macbeth receives Macbeth’s letter I just received a letter from Macbeth telling what had happened after the battle, “I met weird witches on my way back after the victory and I realized that they tell prophecies. While I stood rapt in the wonder, messengers from the King appeared and announced that I had just been named as the thane of Cawdor, which was one of the titles that the witches had previously mentioned when they called ‘Hail, king that shalt be.’(Act I, scene v, line 8) ” Macbeth was really excited and there is a high chance in which Macbeth would perform deeds to fulfill his ambition, since he told me to keep the secret about the happening. I am rejoiced by the possibilities that my lord is going to be the King. I believe Macbeth is going to be king as he was promised. However, this would not happen unless I persuade him to get rid of his human kindness. He has the ambition to become powerful and he wants to seize the throne, but at the same time, he wants to be a good man and is scared to commit the sin. Hurry home so I can talk to you and keep you away from those stupid thoughts tempting you to failure. Besides, I was just told by a messenger from Macbeth, reporting that the king is coming to my fortress tonight. The news nearly drove me to crazy because I had no preparation at all to welcome Duncan’s entrance and to plan for the murder. I must be well planned since tonight would be the only chance for us to kill Duncan and grip the kingship. Come murderous thoughts! “Unsex me here and fill me from” head to toe with “direst cruelty.” (Act I, scene v, line 40-41) Come to my female breast! Turn my mother’s milk into poisonous acid. Make me feel no remorse and human compassion, which prevent me to succeed in persuading my lord. Cover the world with darkness so that no one could see my evil crime.
