New York City Diversity
For many other people who live in New York city and me personally that means that they have several different opinions. Many people approve, accept and understand different practices and many do not. Which can cause them to be biased, selfish because they are not willing to accept other people who in their eye have abnormal behaviors. Being exposed to so many different cultures, traditions are such great gift in my opinion. Because instead of traveling and some people can't afford that you can have it all in New York City. Diversity unites people, nationalities , races groups different parts of the country. You change attitudes on things, you start to think different sand more acceptable to others and their behaviors. The away toy think changes, …show more content…
You are exposed to all of that which is so great. You get to know people who are different then you, learn about them, learn about their country. Of course, all of this is not for everyone. Not everyone appreciates diversity. Diversity can have a great influence that will exposure you to other people. You don't always end up working, going to school with the people from your country. But being understanding and appreciating others will help you be a better and more understanding individual. Like I stated before I love living in New York because it's so diverse. Everywhere you go you have different cuisines what is better than that. You learn how to practice that cuisine so later in life you can teach that to your kids. Like I mentioned before diversity can also be bad for some aspects of communication. Many people have different type of gestures, behavior that other might take offensive. For example a thump up is appropriate for America people to use but in other countries it doesn’t mean the same. Also pointing on things are really rude in many European Countries. Then again being exposed to it all helps you better understand and eventually benefit you in the

The information that I have learned about diversity in the United States of America has helped me better understand and relate to others in many ways. The United States of America is a giant melting pot of several different races, ethnicities, and cultures. What I have learned is that each group has their differences and similarities. With these differences in culture they have taught me how to be tolerant and accepting of them no matter how different from me they appear. By accepting the differences in our diverse society I have learned new thoughts and ideas of living, different perspectives of thinking, and have been introduced to a variety of foods that I have never tried before. All in all, it seems in the end that many racial and ethnic groups are different, but they share one common interest which is to love one another and be happy. The most beneficial thing to our society would be the focus on the main interest of all, instead of focusing on how different we are when compared to one another. Focusing on the differences between one another and judging others based on them was something that was done in the past. However, I had come to realize that focusing on the differences and closing the opportunity to learn about other cultures, races, and ethnicities was hindering me in life.…

From city to city, cultures, environments, and beliefs vary immensely. A city means more than simply “a large town.” For example, my own home of Dallastown, Pennsylvania differs drastically from the much larger city of Philadelphia. Where I grew up, the white population is the overwhelming majority; Philadelphia obviously differs in this category. Cities provide a haven of interesting people from conflicting ideologies, color, and financial statuses. My home’s landscape is regularly hilly and forested, whereas Philadelphia is full of skyscrapers, streets, and city-lights. Every town and city is unique in their own sense; landmarks, culture, music, and even transportation define what that place might stand for, or signify. I’ve visited numerous…

When it comes to the topic of diversity and what is has taught me I really think of a few things. Diversity has really taught me a lot about myself as well as tolerance to others around me. Really there is nowhere in the world today that diversity is not present or has not had some sort of effect on our society as a whole. All in all I think that diversity really just means being different than others in various ways. I think if the United States never had any instances of diversity we would be a pretty boring and simple society. Many of our great minds of today as well as the past where very unique and diverse individuals. Without any type of diversity we would be exactly alike there would be nothing different about each other. The world would be plain and boring as well. I like to think that without any type of diversity the world would be without any type of color or texture as if we were in a 50’s TV show.…

I don’t think that many realize the benefits of being so diverse. Personally I love looking around and seeing the women and children form India with there long dresses and there heads covered. They embrace there culture and I think it is such a beautiful thing. At times I wonder what they think is so unique about our culture, and what it is like to be an American. One benefit that I have picked up is speaking another language. I was raised by a…

The diversity in the United States has helped me to better understand and relate to others in ways that I may not have in the past. I have learned much from this class and about myself that there is still discrimination and prejudice in the United States. I have learned that I need to take the time and to get to know a person before I make any judgments against them. There are so many different kinds of people in the United States with the different backgrounds. We do not need to discriminate against anyone until we can look at ourselves first to make sure we are clean. We need to look beyond the core of their skin and what they are wearing, and the way they talk. Since this class I have stepped back and looked around to see how people act with each other some get along just fine then you have the few that you can tell are uncomfortable. I have learned that everyone needs to be treated as equals it does not matter what your age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disability. We just need to all get along and to educate others.…

    Diversity In California

California truly is caught up in a disastrous situation and the long term effects have been in the works for quite some time. Diversity is at the heart of how the state functions, runs, and votes. Home to phenomenal coastal views, vast desert plains, and tall illustrious mountains, the state is truthfully very unique. “Nowhere is this paradox truer than in California, a dysfunctional natural paradise in which a group of coastal and governing magnificoes virtue-signal from the world’s most exclusive and beautiful enclaves” (Hanson 4). Vast amounts of beautiful scenery are present no matter what part of the Golden State you reside in or visit. However, this leads to an overpopulated state in general with countless problems to continually battle.…

The more exposed a population is to foreign ideas and people, the more that population becomes desensitized to any stereotypes or prejudices. If we look at African Americans in present day America, their condition is the best that it has ever been in this country’s history mainly because newer generations of Americans are more racially tolerant than generations past. With each new generation will come even more racial and cultural tolerance because exposure with these generations to cultural diversity will be higher as the future unfolds. In conclusion, cultural diversity helps to familiarize and involve a society with the broader world, creating cohesion and understanding amongst…

Coming to America from my native born country of Afghanistan was definitely a change to get a grasp of. Growing up here, diversity is very common. I believe United States is definitely a melting pot. We have people from all over the world settle here to create a better life. Growing up in the city of Saint Louis, I would say that diversity was a very common thing. I lived in a street where their were elderly American folks, African -Americans, Mexicans, and Bosnians. I was exposed to a diverse group of people at an early age. Low income communities such as the ones I have lived in tends to be the most diverse as oppose to living in Ladue where their the superior white race is the most common. Diversity is something that I have been comfortable with my whole life, being exposed to it as soon as I came to America definitely has shaped my mentality on this subject in a positive manner. During High school and my college life I have worked at various jobs such as Steak N’ Shake,…

America means diversity. The fact that there is not even an official language, reminds us that this country throughout history has been shaped by immigrants from all over the world. As consequence, diversity lead us to judge and have stereotypes. Like animals, we label consider fellow human beings as non-part of our group. When we think we do not belong to our group, we reject and trend to deny their conditions and human dignity. History is a cruel teacher that shows us how it has come to violent movements such as genocide, deaths, and the extermination of the ones considered different.…
