We categorize people without knowing our own discretion.
No matter how old we are, where we do we come from or which social group we belong to. For example, from my own experience as Latina, I realize that Some Americans accept and believe a number of stereotypes that believe that Hispanic population is a hard worker community of immigrant, with strong family ties, lot of kids and mostly living and working in the country illegally with limited education living from social assistance programs, according to a study Almost all Americans believe that half or more of the Latino population is made up of undocumented immigrants who crossed the border from Mexico. There is not better Proof of it than the attitude of the republican candidate Donald Trump, who claim that Latinos are affecting the
country.
While it is true that there are more obvious stereotypes such as those arising from racism, there are other less obvious judgmental behaviors that have been affecting our society in different ways. Thus, the problem of maintaining wrong bias also occurs because we assume things about people at the first impression but also we influence others to have them, leading complicit in violence and hatred.
Using the example of prejudice that society has established for women, we can realize how stereotypes can affect even our economy. Prejudices lead society to think that woman it’s not able to do certain activities or professions. If we look briefly it is easy to find any other excuse for all those women who have difficulties accessing or social positions respect in certain areas. Sadly, Still prevails that pagan thought that men are superior to women.
This sexist thinking remains significant even in developed countries. Unquestionably, it is easy to find any other excuse for all those women who have difficulties accessing or social positions respect in certain areas. It still hard for women who want to excel professionally because our society continues to believe in those ideas that they were born for certain things and does not have the same capabilities of man.
We stereotype and judge people either by the way they dress, the work they do, where they live, what car they drive or even leading their physical features .Prejudices hinder an objective and empathetic approach towards people and this, in turn, causes obstacles when we want to progress in such a complex world as ours. It is clear that tolerance, respect and solidarity are much needed.
We have to look ourselves with honesty and evaluate our behavior towards the other one. Those snap judgments we issue based on cultural, social and personal stereotypes are the reason of many disagreements and even wars. Every human being should keep in mind that elsewhere, in another situation or surrounded by other people, maybe let us those discriminated against by the prejudices of others.
