Essay On Cherish Diversity In America
Some people have different views on whether America cherishes diversity, Eboo Patel is someone who views America as a country that cherishes diversity and Jena McGregor is someone who thinks that America does not cherish diversity. On this topic I think that America cherishes diversity

I believe this because America has adapted to new races and cultures from other countries and if there was a problem adapting to new people and cultures Americans adapted to it and resolved hate and wrong accusations of the new people. Also if America does not cherish diversity there would be a lot of hate towards other races and cultures that we do not see too much of in present time. Although there have been times in past decades where race and beliefs were hated upon and still a little bit today it still happens. So basically what I mean is that if we do have problems in that way we usually resolve them. There I some Evidence from this in an article written by Eboo Patel. Eboo Patel mentions a story summarized by Martin Luther King called “the story of Rip Van Winkle”, in the story a man goes up a mountain which he will stay on for about

What I have to say to that is that the main problem will get solved eventually and there is nothing we can do but let the lingering hate fade away which may take along but I believe it can and will happen. A woman named Jena McGregor wrote an article on how the Oscars was very much lacking diversity because all of this years winners were all white. She says also says that the Hollywood entertainment industry is also not cherishing diversity because in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences out of the 6,000 members 93 percent of the members are white and 76 percent of them are male and the average age is 63. Although that is pretty outrageous facts I believe that over time things like this will not happen

Virtually every culture has some form of discrimination especially against those who are different. Discrimination still occurs around the world today. The wars in Iran, Iraq, and Partisan are perfect examples. Within every culture there are extremist groups that believe what they are doing is justified. Looking at me you might wonder what I could possibly understand about diversity – middle class white male, college educated, married with two children, a boy and a girl. These broad generalizations describe me, but they do not define me; just as similar ones about others are equally uninformative. They note apparent features while failing to capture inherent uniqueness. To me, diversity encompasses respect and acceptance, concepts defined by actions taken to recognize and understand individuality, not simple toleration of obvious differences. Although I do not write articles or participate in protests demanding change, I quietly respect the dignity of individuals and value their perspectives. My service in the United States Army has profoundly shaped my attitudes and guided my actions supporting these beliefs.…

Diversity in my opinion has many definitions but one true meaning. My meaning would be the vast variety or difference of something in a large group. The dictionary’s definition is “being diverse; difference” and also “A point or respect in which things differ... variety or multifamily”. The definition shows much more than people that are multi-cultural. When I think of multi-cultural I think of race. When I think of diversity I think of a difference. In my opinion those two words should have nothing in common, but to most people they do.…
