Length of stay was not the only process that was made more effective with the implementation of the PSH model at UC Irvine Health. Another aspect that was positively affected by the PSH model was turnover time of a procedure. According to UC Irvine Health ninety two percent of procedures start at 7:30 in the morning. With the implementation of the PSH model the turnover time averaged about 29 minutes. This was a 31 percent improvement from before the PSH model was implemented. For those worried about the performance of a surgeon because the turnover time improved, it went unaffected. According to UC Irvine Health, the 166 cases researched that all 166 cases had 100.00 performance rates. Because the performance of the surgeons was so high in less amount of time, this lowered the readmission rate for the same health issue. UC Irvine found that the readmission rate for hip arthroplasties is zero percent. The national average for readmission for a knee arthroplasty is between 2.5 percent and 4.3 percent compared to UC Irvine Health readmission rate which is 1.1 percent…

It also offers walk in service, so it could, so it avoids having to make an appointment that isn’t guaranteed for that same day. I am writing to express my strong interest in the PGY1 residency program at Centura St. Anthony Hospital. Throughout my pharmacy experience, I developed a passion for education and inpatient healthcare. Pursing a residency allows me to merge these two interests. During my critical care rotation at your facility, the pharmacists provided exceptional care to patients while upholding the values of compassion, integrity, and excellence. These core values resonated with my own and I was drawn to your institution. The PGY1 residency program at Centura St. Anthony Hospital has everything I desire. It is based at a level I trauma center which brings the challenge of a diverse patient population. Additionally, experiences that captivate my interest such as cardiology, critical care, and education are offered. The opportunities afforded by your program will facilitate my long-term career goals. I aspire to expand my clinical skills, enhance the pharmacy profession by precepting/teaching students, and possibly pursue a PGY2 residency.…

Medicine has changed in the past years in many ways. With the change and inventions of new cures, technology, and less invasive procedures, medicine has become a whole different world. Though there has been many enhancements that increase the productivity and treatment outcomes in medicine, the delivery method and care has changed along with it, and not for always for the best. Hospitals are what people find security and safety from all illness and diseases they have come across, but with the change of the economy and budget cuts, the first thing to cut is patient care and service. When people think of hospitals they think of long lines, waiting for hours for a simple procedure or question, medications that aren’t helpful and no care or relationship with the doctor. Patients get less time with physicians and more time with physician assistants and nurses. Many hospitals and clinics have made it known at the first meeting that after the initial appointment, the remainder of appointments will be either with the nurse practitioner or physician assistant. With less care and relationship from the physician, patients start to wonder why pay high dollar for less service, and that’s where the issue arises.…
