Nicholas Carr Does The Internet Make You Dumber Summary
Nicholas Carr's essay "Does The Internet Make You Dumber" proves to be more persuasive in expressing his beliefs on why exactly this new medium of obtaining information might not be the best. One example that proved to be very persuasive was the reminder that we are animals, and will act on instinct, as presented "Our presdispostition is to be aware of as much of what's going on around us as possible. Our fast-paced, reflexive shifts in focus were once crucial to our survival" (Carr 219).

Although I thought Pinker brought up excellent points such as "New forms of media have always caused moral panics..." (Pinker 220) and how critics are not looking at the real statistics (Pinker 220), I am more on Carr's side on how we as people, need to train

Today, we need both pond-skaters and scuba divers; we need to master the ability to access facts while reserving time and space to do something meaningful with them.
