Night and Fog The documentary “Night and Fog,” by Alain Resnais articulates the story of the ending solution of the Nazi Germany’s concentration camps. The film features both the past and present day landscape of Auschwitz, while describing what life was like in the concentration camps. This was one of the first films, which was published ten years after the revelation of the camps, to demonstrate what happen in the holocaust. Night and Fog delve in to the tales of starvation, torture, medical experiments and deaths that happened on the grounds of Auschwitz. The constructions of the camps were built to appear as an actual town. In order for the outside world to be fooled into what was actually happening behind those walls. The narrator even states that postcard photos can be taken in front of the building as to how picturesque the scene was. Furthermore, the hospital gave the allusion of being an authentic hospital by giving patients false medication, and paper hospital garments. In reality, used the victims for human experiments. The soundtrack allows for the audience to sense when a scene is passive or dramatic. For example, the scenery of death bodies being shoved by into the ground and footage of the present day gas chambers depicts that these scenes are traumatizing enough on their own without sound effects.
