Nirvana's Style
shirts due to the fact that Aberdeen is a logging town, greasy and messy hair, baggy blue washed jeans and converse shoes especially from a thrift store, This clothing approach was authentic and was key to the Seattle scene. The majority of grunge vocalists had long hair which was used to hide their face so they can express themselves, most notably Cobain and Eddie Vedder. Nirvana's style is very recognisable even within grunge. Cobain's style of play the guitar is very original as he very very rarely played solos, instead he play variations of the songs melody as single notes and were mostly bluesy, this can be herd on songs such as, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Heart Shaped Box. He is also famous for relying on power chords, low-note riffs and loose left handed playing.

Borchard’s approach at the opening of the Hard Rock was a participant observation approach. Borchard wanted to get into the Hard Rock Café the opening night is Las Vegas because he wanted to part of the concert, and the “once-in-a-lifetime experience” like everyone else in line. The line expanded around the 75ft spectacle of the Gibson guitar. Like everyone else, Borchard wanted to be a part of the grand opening to the most iconic and well known Rock and Roll hot spot now known. Borchard was looking to get in and have the time of his life but what he found out was very different. He found out that night that the way you looked acted and seemed to be in society gave you either extreme advantages, or extreme disadvantages. Borchard’s use of participant observation was also used when the random man, whom he has never met before in his life, so easily and eagerly talked about his life with Borchard displaying the use of microwave relationships.…

    A Tragedy Labeled Grunge

And then there were none. This short sentence sums up the entirety of the grunge rock era in the early 1990s. No musical genre in history has found greatness so quickly and then raced into oblivion as fast as grunge did and few genres have relied so heavily on just a handful of artists. In the early 1990s there was a new type of music that was taking the masses by storm. There had been nothing new in the pop music world for a number of years and generation X was coming of age and demanded some kind of change. The days when Michael Jackson 's style of pop and Metallica 's methodical hair/death metal ruled the airwaves were just about to end. Generation X needed more relevance in their music even if it was not as cheery and magical as pop had sounded for some time. Madonna, ZZ Top, Rick Astley nor any other of the day 's pop or rock singers could fill this void. The band that could be most closely considered in the realm of the message of grunge would have been Pink Floyd. The band has always incorporated a very real and sober message in the music they have produced. Nothing else mainstream was similar in any way. That is where the story gets fascinating because the original grunge band members never intended to be mainstream. The majority of the bands created music to play at underground shows and the music was intended only to be played for people who really wanted to hear and feel it. The popularization of the music and the bands that received the grunge label gave way to both the rise and the undoing of the genre, the bands and the band members themselves. This paper will concentrate on the short but very eventful life of the grunge genre. A focus will be on two of the pioneer bands, Nirvana and Alice In Chains, which were both from the Seattle, Washington, area and share an epic journey through the early 1990s.…

"Fake Plastic Trees" criticizes how modern society stifles individuality and forces people to swallow idealized conceptions of how life should be. The whole song centers on the idea that humans, either through their own fallibility or through society's relentlessness, easily and obliviously mold their lives according to the unspoken standards they set on themselves. The result is a shallow, artificial, "fake plastic" living that perpetuates itself and destroys uniqueness.…

In every generation, there is a band, a group, or singer that comes along soaring off the charts and influences the entire youth of that generation. The music scene for teenagers in 1992 would change forever with a big bang. The new-school punk trio, Blink-182 came bursting into the hearts and voices of teenagers with their loud, vulgar, crude-humored, rebellious, truthful, honest and strong-willed lyrics. Blink-182 was the voice of every teenager. They found a way to connect and relate to every hormonal teen who struggled with the hardships of being a teenager in society such as the songs, “Dammit” and “Anthem Pt. 2”. Blink-182 became the ring leader by demonstrating such things in the Album’s: Dude Ranch and Take of Your Pants and Jacket.…

Step 1: Open up a stock image in Photoshop of any size and/or format. The best results for this tutorial usually involve large photographic images with effective color separation. Since the overall grunge effect will come out of this source image, it is best to select a photo with lots of vertical lines and straight edges going off at different angles. Rounded objects (especially 'natural' objects) do not work very well. From personal experience I can say that construction-yard pictures are ideal... although you may still need to experiment a little to obtain the optimal results.…

Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, Bobby Neuwirth, and William Burroughs all played a crucial role in transforming Smith into a rockstar. Gregory Corso was a poet who was the youngest of the beat generation and gave lists of dictionaries, books, and poems to Patti (Smith 138). Smith gained creative insight from Corso, “Gregory would heckle them, punctuating the mundane…I made a mental note to make certain I was never boring if I read my poems one day” (Smith 138). Although the pointers were not grandiose, the small little details of Patti’s life allowed Smith to prosper at the Chelsea Hotel. Similarly in the Chelsea Hotel, the slightest change to appearance would have turned anyone’s head and get you noticed. Patti did just that. After one night, Patti cut her hairstyle to resemble that of Keith Richards and Jackie Curtis asked Smith be in her play Femme Fatale. Artists throughout the Chelsea Hotel noticed Patti’s hairstyle and associated her androgynous look. Even Allen Ginsberg mistook Patti for a “pretty boy” at an automat one afternoon (Smith 123). Bobby Neuwirth was one of the major contributors of transforming Patti Smith into a rockstar. Neuwirth was a folk singer and songwriter and was the leading confidant of most artist’s and musician’s during the 1970s and 1980s. One time Patti was sitting in the lobby waiting for Robert, when Bobby Neuwirth caught her eye. They took a shot at…
