Like Abraham Lincoln, they rely on the Declaration of Independence for the authority to assert that every individual human being has a Creator-endowed right to life, and that it is the duty of government to protect that right. In the tradition of Abraham Lincoln, they assert that no human being, born or unborn, can be considered the property of another, and they repudiate the Roe v. Wade decision which presumed to give some individuals the so-called "right" to terminate the life of…

In 1954 they joined forces with the National Organization for Woman and together worked on the Brown versus Board of Education case. (ACLU) In Brown versus Board of Education, a compilation of four actual cases, the Supreme Court declared segregation in public schools unconstitutional, which at the time of civil rights and lingering racism was, for some, a controversial idea. (US Courts) The 1973 Supreme Court cases Roe versus Wade and Doe versus Bolton involved the argument that women held the right to privacy and therefore could decide for themselves whether they wanted to terminate a pregnancy or not. (ACLU) These two cases have since become famous in the privacy rights of women, and are still considered current topics as the debate over whether abortion is a women's privacy matter or a governmental…

Some actions the NRLC take to influence policy and public agenda are playing a big role in state and federal legislation regulating and restricting abortion, and has been instrumental in restricting government funding of abortions to poor women. They have a Political Action Committee that endorses and campaigns for candidates who support its agenda, which include opposition to some forms of Birth Control as well as physician-assisted suicide. The NRLC has more than 7 million members, with 3,000 local chapters and 50 state affiliates. It is headquartered in Washington, D.C and has annual budgets of more than 9 million. This interest group has lobbied for federal legislation banning partial-birth abortions. This act remained the highest priority of the NRLC, which has helped secure state legislation banning the abortion procedure in 17 states. They operate four outreach programs; National Teens for Life, American Victims of Abortion, National Pro-Life Religious Council, and Black Americans for Life.…

They are trying to prevent early teen pregnancy and the murder of babies before they are born. The group that makes an effort towards this is the pro-life group. They fight for the rights of children and are fully against abortion. They believe that once a baby is conceived, it is considered a living human being and therefore it is murder in almost every circumstance. This number of pro-life people has risen to 42% in the last five years. Many people that are involved in this group are religious people, big companies, and people who are just against human lives being taken. The exception to this group's philosophy is that if rape or incest has occurred that it could be considered acceptable, but unfortunate. These groups air commercials and have billboards making people think twice as they drive by. A group called ‘Pro-Life Washington' collects donations and holds events to raise money to prevent…

A few examples of pro-life special interest groups include the Campaign for Working Families, National Right to Life, and Center for Medical Progress of Los Angeles. These groups believe wholeheartedly that human life is created at the point of conception. These groups have made several efforts to “expose” Planned Parenthood for “wrongdoings” that could lead to the program being shut down or cut off from funding. For example, the Center for Medical Progress of Los Angeles released footage that allegedly “proved” that Planned Parenthood sold aborted remains for profit…

The issue of abortion is one of the most contentious, and emotive dilemmas faced by modern societies (Devanny, 2000). Women should have the right to choose whether or not they want to continue or terminate their pregnancy. Since the infamous Supreme Court case of Roe vs. Wade, women were given the right to choose what’s best for them and their unborn child even if it means to end life. Since abortion became illegal, there have been many debates between pro choice and pro life that women have the right to choose but in the process they are killing a living human being.…
