The entire time she told him that her father had given her money but she went behind his back and borrowed from Krogstad and also signed her father’s signature for him which he did not know either. This shows that Nora is not a trustworthy person or someone to look up to. After Torvald read the letter from Krogstad revealing the truth he was very angry as seen in this quote: “Now you have destroyed all my happiness. You have ruined all my future. It is horrible to think of” (Ibsen 31)! Nora also distracted Torvald from the truth by stalling with the Tarantella which is another thing a hero would not do.
Finally, Nora walked out on her family. This is not setting a good example or being a hero. She has three kids and a husband that she left behind without even looking back or thinking twice, the kids now have to grow up without a mother. “I have other duties just as sacred” (Ibsen 35).” This quote shows that Nora cares more about her own problems than anyone else, she is too worried about her own happiness to even stick with her family. This is not setting a good example for her children, therefore, she should not be considered a hero.
