Korean children are taught this daily in their schools as a truth. To us it seems fantastical, to them it is a reality. This is not about some imaginary character, but about the former
President of North Korea. A country with the 5th largest army in the world. This clearly illustrates the instability of North Korea and the reason why we should take North Korea very seriously. The United States needs to exert more political pressure as well as become more informed about the North Korean crisis due to the fact that North Korea threatens world peace by atrocious human rights violations, exhibits a constant state of war, and is demonstrating a propaganda campaign that serves as a model for other dictatorial regimes throughout the world.

According to a website called Civil Liberty, North Korea violates the people of their country’s human rights with five distinct and terrible means. The first example is the loyalty groups “the North Korean government divides its citizens into three castes based on
their perceived loyalty to their dear leader: "core" ( haeksim kyechung
), "wavering" ( tongyo kyechung
), and "hostile" ( joktae kyechung
)”(civilliberty). The wealthy are mostly in the caste, “core” and the ones in “hostile” are the members of different faiths and descendants of perceived enemies of the state. The one in the caste, “hostile” are denied jobs and are subjected to starvation.
