Not Responsible For The Holocaust Essay

German citizens were not responsible for the Holocaust because many of them didn’t agree with the Nazi’s ideology and helped Jewish people by resisting and going against Nazi’s ideas. One way that German citizens were not responsible for the holocaust can be seen on Document #4. The author, Walter Meyer, was a German who was apart of a gang called the Noble White Pirates growing up in the Holocaust that resisted Nazi organizations, like the Nazi Youth. This document was for the citizens of the U.S. to tell them his point of view during of what happened in the holocaust. The author helped his Jewish friend by hiding him in his house. Being apart of the Noble White Pirates made him enemies with the Nazi youth. They planned many ways to steal
So, they tried doing everything they could to help the Jewish people in any way they could.They would also forge papers for Jews so that the Nazi’s would’nt be able to identify them as Jewish people. The fact that they were willing to risk everything just to help Jewish people goes to show how much help these German citizens were during the holocaust and shouldn’t be blamed for the Holocaust. One last example that shows how ordinary Germans were not responsible is in a group of non-Jewish students from the University of Munich called The White Rose. This group did not agree withe the same beliefs as the Nazi and used several tactics to resist the Nazis. The White Rose would hand out fliers to people in the University and in the public to convince them otherwise about the Naz and spoke against their ideas. The would encourage people and planned to sabotage Nazi weapon factories. They did get their message out to the people, but was cut short because they were later executed or arrested by the Gestapo.
