Nt1330 Unit 1 Problem Analysis Paper
Task 1

1. Nowadays, majority of projects, irrespectively of their scope or nature, can be outlined by various charts and diagrams. Such kind of representation of a project gives a clear picture of the project’s activities along with their start and finish dates and the sequence they are performed. This also aims to provide smooth coordination and implementation of the project, which is very crucial to the management. One of the most convenient and practical ways to represent a project in form of a diagram is using Project Network Diagram (PND). Heldman (2011) defines PND as a graphical view of a certain project, showing its activities (dependent and independent) along with their timing and the sequence they will be performed.
According to Filed and Keller (2007), there are two common methods to represent a PND: the activity-on-the node (AON) and the activity-on-arrows (AOA). With the advent of computer software designed to depict PNDs, the AON method has become widely used and it has some obvious advantages (e.g. showing dependencies, activity name etc.) over the AOA method. So, hereby the AON method with the finish to start (FS) dependency is used to create the PND.

One of the key issues experienced by venture supervisors is the inspiration of a group at the end of a venture this needs efficient management and hearing

Your task is to construct a network diagram for this project, identify the critical path and address a number of managerial issues. Given the case presentation, you will extract a work breakdown structure and an activity list. Enter your project data on to MS Project. Save the project baseline. This represents the half the assignment grade because it evaluates your use of the project management software. You will find that there is a difficulty in meeting the opening night schedule (if you follow the text exactly). Your task is to solve the scheduling problem by considering the impact on the quality of the performance as well as the additional stress on the participants. Implement your scheduling solution by saving a second baseline. Deliverable: Write a short report (6-10 pages) which extracts the key data from the schedules created in MS Project. Complete your MS project files – one for the case description and one for the solution to the scheduling problem. The outline of the report is as follows (20 points): • Description • A brief description of the Pinafore project task • A brief description of the main task areas (i.e. upper level of the WBS) • The logic behind the schedule (give reasons for predecessor and successor relationship; what are the key schedule constraints) • Original Solution • Statement of the original schedule: i. Your Gantt chart ii. Your entry table including the task name, Duration, start, finish, predecessor, successor, Resource and cost (see below) iii. Comment on the scheduling problem • Your Solution on a new project file • Statement of the final schedule: i. Your Gantt chart ii. Your entry table including the task name, Duration, start, finish, predecessor, successor, Resource and cost (see below) • Justify your solution: clearly identify the impact on project risk, quality, cost and human resources Deliverable: 2 MS Project Files: points…
