Nurse Practitioner Goal

The skills and knowledge I learned from my ten years of nursing experience in the different department; medical –surgical, ICU, long-term care and dialysis motivated me to pursue a nurse practitioner degree. My goal as a nurse to meet the health care needs of the people and help them to achieve physical, psychological and emotional well- being. I believe nurse practitioner program would fill me with tremendous scientific knowledge and skills which I can use to make a difference in the health status of the different communities including minorities, vulnerable population. As a nurse practitioner, my immediate goals would be doing research and do surveys about the underserved communities, their lifestyles, health care needs and health care access. My long term goal would be to work with the organizations and give priorities in the preventive health care, provide health education and promote easily accessible healthcare services for the underserved communities.
Preventive health care services are crucial to reducing the chronic medical complications and health care cost. When I worked in my country Nepal, I have seen many people form rural areas seek health care when the medical condition is so critical and hard to cure. In my experience, I have seen many young mothers never seek any prenatal care during pregnancy and
People usually do not feel comfortable to seek health care services because of not having adequate knowledge and fear of health care cost. Our government has different health care programs for the low-income families. However, people do not have sufficient information to get the benefit. I would like to give information people about how they can get the insurance through affordable care act without paying a significant amount of copayment. Social media and the school health education are the most effective ways to communicate to the different group of
