Just like law enforcement, which I have been working in during the last twenty years, nursing is a challenging and demanding profession. Just as I began my career in law enforcement twenty years ago, l am now eager to pursue a career in nursing. I am able to help and care for people. I have enjoyed working in law enforcement, and now it is now time for me to pursue a career that I love so well and feel passionate about. Like law enforcement, nursing is a career for dedicated, reliable, and honest people. I believe I have the honesty, integrity, motivation and skill to pursue a nursing profession. The decision to enroll in college was motivated by my experience that night and my long interest in the health field. I have a full time job, four kids, and a wife with full time job. Going back to school after several years of hiatus does not make it easy. Despite the nature of my job, which involves overtime and irregular hours, I was still able to keep up with my classes. Meanwhile, my goal to realize my dream was cut short when I got accepted to nursing school and dropped out due to family reason. This time around, with full support and cooperation of my family, I am fully ready to pursue and to realize my long time goal.
I feel the rewards of a professional career in nursing would satisfy the goals I have hoped to achieve for long time. I feel I have the drive, enthusiasm, and skills to train and hopefully one day work as a nurse. My work experience to date has equipped me with these skills.
