Personal Statement: A Career In Nursing
17 I’ve been taking care of people my whole life. I was my sister’s “mini nurse” both times she was operated on for trigeminal neuralgia. I was only six when this happened. Later in my life I became my mother’s care taker when she couldn’t walk for several months. At this point I was in high school and knew I was destined to help people get well again. So I started preparing myself for a career in nursing. Now I’m a sophomore in IUP’s nursing program and I can’t wait to start clinicals this year. I want to be the nurse that patients would like to see every day. One who treats them with respect and kindness, and is knowledgeable in what they do.
