Problem Statement: To Study the differences in stress and work life balance between men and women
Hypothesis
Hypothesis 1: Composite stress scores will be greater among women than men
Hypothesis 1a) There will be no gender differences in Environmental factors contributing to stress scores
Hypothesis 1b) Work-Pattern factors will contribute more to composite stress scores of women than men
Hypothesis 1c) Interpersonal factors will contribute more to composite stress scores of women than men
Hypothesis 2: Work-life balance will be better for men than women
Methodology
Demographic Details: The Study included 29 men and 27 women primarily from Consulting and Banking Sphere. The age of the participants ranged from 23 to 30 years, with the mean age being 25 years. Educational Qualification of the participants was primarily graduation or post graduation (MBAs). Participants belonged to primarily metropolitan cities of Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad.
Measures Used: Two existing questionnaires were used for the existing study. However they were adapted to suit the needs of the study. They include a Stress Questionnaire published by the firm Usdaw & Legal Plus (2013) with 5 subscales namely, Physical Indicators of Stress, Environmental, Work-Related, Interpersonal Autonomy related sources of stress. We also adapted by Work-Life Balance Questionnaire comprising of 18 questions published by International Coach Federation.
Procedure: We conducted the study by means of an online survey using the Qualtrics Website. All participants were briefed about the purpose and nature of the study.
Analysis: A quantitative study was conducted using Regression Analysis.
Sampling Technique: Purposive & Judgmental sampling
