This website is for policymakers to give them access to research, technical assistance and opportunities to exchange ideas on state issues. This information captures the basic overview where obesity occurred in the United States for the years 2012 and 2013. This information is shown by color coded prevalence maps and charts showing the percentage of obesity in each state. There is also a chart representing the annual obesity-attributable expenditures by state-level for the year 2009. The source is from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). This website is for the general public, the NIH is a agency of the United States government. The obesity statistics information is listed under the Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases section. The source of the information is from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). There is a break down of obesity by race/ethnic, age groups and by sex. The website explains the cause of obesity and what can be done. There is also a link for gauging the body mass index (BMI). This website was very informative, it explained what overweight and obesity is and risk factors. This website is and excellent source on obesity statistics, the only thing that was lacking is a state by state
