Within this section, there were many strengths and weaknesses. Areas of strength included fine motor, art, blocks, and sand/water. During the observation, the teacher prepared different types of art activities that related to the weekly theme. For this week, the children drew or painted different types of lines because their weekly theme focused on Renaissance painters. Another area of strength included blocks. Their collection of blocks included different sizes, shapes, and colors. The blocks were readily available for play, both indoors and outdoors. Another area of strength is sand/water. During their designated outdoor time, the children are able to play inside of a sandbox that includes various material such as buckets, shovels, and trucks. While playing indoors, the teacher sets up buckets of water beads for the children to play with during activity time. Areas of weakness included music, dramatic play, nature/science, and math/numbers. During the observations, the children did sing songs and dance; however, there was not a designated music space or musical materials for the children to use. Similar to music, the children were provided with some materials for dramatic play such as a toy kitchen and dolls, but they did not have dress up clothes readily available. Another observed area of weakness was in nature/science. The classroom did have a designated science table, but the children were not encouraged to bring…
(E1) The design of the product promoted the kindergarten students to develop their social skills, fine motor skills and numeracy skills. This was observed as the students had to learn to take turns, learn to gently pull out the straws and count and write numbers. This activity was age appropriate as each child at a different learning stage to participate in the activity. This was because of the way the activity was laid out and when the children took turns they could…
- Its possible that some activities can be completed in different ways for example; the children may be asked to write facts about a subject so they could decide to make a poster or create a leaflet.…

The goal of this paper assignment is to relate naturalistic observations of young children to the principles, frameworks, and research you are studying. 1. Select one of the following questions for your observation. A) How effectively do younger and older toddlers communicate with each other and with adults (e.g., teachers, parents, etc)? Preparatory Reading: Cole & Cole Ch. 8 Observe the communication with peers and adults at the Cyert Center for Early Education. Compare and contrast the younger toddlers (17 -26 months) with the older toddlers (26 -38 months) with respect to…
This type of activity helps students to clarify the information before defining their design brief and determining the design constraints, e.g. design and make a communication product that entertains and would be suitable for young children. For example, a favourite picture book could be read aloud and recorded with different voices for characters and have sound effects added to enhance its…

Some people like to work early morning, others like to work until late at night. I would prefer to get up early morning and start my day’s work than working until late night. Working early in the morning can make me more energetic and I can remember everything quickly. There are many reasons why I like work early morning is that I feel fresh, I have more time to do different activities.…
| When a child tries particularly hard I praise them on their work, I take time to highlight all the positive parts, ask them what they like about their piece and what they enjoyed about the activity and show an interest in how they felt it went and reward them with a sticker, this child is also asked to show their work to the rest of the class.…
On November 6th, I observed a four year-old boy at the UCI Early Childhood Education Center. My observation starts at 4:10pm, and it lasts for thirty minutes. At the time I did the observation, all of the children woke up from the nap time and started to play outside of the classroom. The playground is at least seventy-five square feet, and it has many play stations for children. Three classrooms share the same outside playground, and the age groups of those children are from three years old to five years old. All of the children could access to the outside playground through the back door in their classrooms. From the left side of the playground, there is a basketball stand next to the tree, then moving toward to the right, there is a lawn in the central of the playground. On the grass, there is a big…

In order for one to gain an understanding of an early childhood environment, one must put them inside one. People really do not understand what takes place everyday if they do not sit back and observe the interaction amongst the children and the staff. I observed a class at A Child's World- Doylestown. A Child's World is located at 2001 South Easton Road, Doylestown, PA 18901. The building is brand new, they just moved in June 2003, however A Child's World has been in business for 10 years and they have two other locations, Newtown and Oxford Valley.…
