Obstacles In Research Paper
Throughout life, obstacles will affect everyone. Sometimes people go their whole life trying to overcome them. Other times, people just brush them off without trying. During my academic career, I have faced several challenges that have been there my whole life. I tried everything to get passed them, but nothing worked. I eventually turned into one of those that would decide to live with them and avoid them. When deciding to become an Elementary Teacher, I never thought that I would face these challenges, but was sadly mistaken. I realized teaching isn’t just being around children whom are carefree, but the adults as well.
The greatest challenges of all are public speaking, testing anxiety, and fear of failure. Many things and people have taken part in helping to get me over these obstacles along my journey. Every time that I would stand up in front of an audience, my face would turn bright red and I would blackout. I never

There have even been points to where I thought that I was going to pass out, but luckily didn’t. Thanks to the help and guidance of Professor Fotinos, I have overcome my public speaking fear, and can speak in front of anybody, at least eighty percent of the time, and have even volunteered to go first when speaking. The second greatest challenge has been with anxiety. I have been diagnosed with major anxiety, major depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). With the testing anxiety, all these diagnosis’s have played a part in some way or another, especially the OCD and anxiety. Through time and training, I have learned to breathe easier and calm down as long as I am comfortable in the class, sit against the wall away from people, and hide my face so I don’t see them finish and leave. Another strategy is to go to the testing center on campus where I never

By being honest with myself about my weaknesses and working on it day by day. Public speaking has been a fear of mine since elementary school. I was chosen to do a school play and soon as I stepped foot on the stage my mind went blank. I forgot every word because of the large audience that’s watched my every move. Since then I can say my stage freight has improved because I work with the pubic everyday in retail. I also have a c…

Adversity can bring out the positive and negative sides in a person. In “The Proof of Worth,” Edgar Albert Guest demonstrates how challenges in life can help someone understand what he or she is capable of during a hardship. Similarly, “The Importance of Adversity in Growth and Development” written by Patrick Kohan exemplifies how children will never learn how to conquer an obstacle if they are always given assistance. Furthermore, Laura Hillenbrand’s novel, Unbroken, indicates that experiencing problems can affect the way a person’s body reacts and thinks about a difficult moment. Ultimately, the authors highlight that obstacles can be a complex or helpful task, as well as benefit people in the future when they need to know their true talents.…

“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students that move dramatically.…

Overcoming Obstacles Makes Better Individuals “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome” (Booker T. Washington). Obstacles are a required part of life if you wish to grow and develop. If you do not face challenges, you will not become a strong person. Individuals pushing to achieve the goals we set and overcoming the roadblocks ahead of us are what make us who we are. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and in my own personal experience, people encounter obstacles, and eventually overcome them.…

Public speaking phobia is an intense and irrational fear of experiencing judgment by others when speaking in front of public or being embarrassed or humiliated in such situations causing dread, panic, and avoidance (Teachman, 2010). More accurately, it is not the scrutiny and negative judgments themselves but the speaker’s own emotional response to them; the feeling of shame, rejection or humiliation that causes intense fear in the speaker. Sufferers recognize that their fear is excessive or unreasonable but they feel powerless to do anything to change their responses (Teachman, 2010). Therefore, the feared situation – such as presentations, speeches, and meetings are avoided or else endured with intense anxiety or distress. In Bill’s situation, he suffers from intense fear of intense fear of public speaking and finds new ways of avoiding situations that involve speaking in front of audience, until his recent promotion at work.…

Every day when we wake up, we are confronted with challenges. Some of the challenges are ones that we face every day, whereas some days we face brand new ones. Whether the challenge is simply getting out of bed and getting ready or dealing with a family emergency, we all face challenges each and every day. It is how we respond to these challenges that make us who we are. We can shy away from challenges and pretend they do not exist, or we can attack them through faith knowing we are not fighting on our own.…

When the teacher asked me to introduce myself, I responded with my pre-thought-out response: “My name is Daniel, and I like art”. My teacher would respond with a question like: “What type of art?” Then I would come up with a generic response like “drawing” or “painting”. This was the start of my recognition of my anxiety when giving presentations. I had always been very anxious about talking in front of a class, but I always thought that it was completely normal.…

When the fear of public speaking is present, it is overall easy to overcome. The article How to Conquer Public Speaking Fear, written by Morton C. Orman, M.D. explains how practicing the ten principles with practice can help you overcome public speaking fear. Principle 1 states that public speaking is not inherently stressful, although thousands of human beings have learned to speak without stress, I disagree that I’ll ever have the feeling of having little to no stress when it comes to public speaking. Principle 2 states that you don’t have to be brilliant or perfect to succeed. I agree with this principle because at the end of the day people are looking for something of value from your speech. Principle 3 explains how you only need two or…

Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.” You are not guaranteed to be successful so you must work hard to succeed. If you happen to fall along the way, get back up and try again; failure won’t kill you, it will only make you stronger. What counts the most is that you continue to do your absolute best even though there may be obstacles in your way. This can be seen in each of articles I read as well as in my own experience. Each person in the articles, and myself have had some sort of obstacle to overcome when it came to our education but we never gave up until we were where we wanted or needed to be. If we want to be successful and get a good education we must have determination, encouragement, and fulfillment.…

Obstacles and hardships are what shape a person. One of my many obstacles I had to face was getting use to my freshman year in high school. Due to me going to an Early college my freshman experience may have been a little different. Transitioning was one of the most difficult parts of the whole experience due to me not being able to really grasp what I had gotten myself into. My teachers were very firm in conducting their teaching strategies. I can recall a moment in time where I had turned in one of my first papers for my English class I was so excited for her to read it because I had worked all night on it trying to perfect it. A couple days passed and I got the paper back it was so many read marks on it if I didn't know any better I would…

It happens often, and it is when a sentences does not have a subject and a verb in the same sentence. Which causes the sentence not to be complete. Finally, another challenge that might arise is grammar issues. Because even though it sounds simple you need to understand how the language works, how the meaning is made, and how it is broken.…

Everyone in life will have their own personal obstacles they will have to face in life. Some people will mentally shut down and give up when faced with a challenge. Others will take their challenges and use them to better themselves. The obstacles that I have faced in my life have never hit me harder than they have these past few months. This being my senior year, I always expected it to be the most laid back and relaxing year of my high school career. When in fact I set myself up for one of the biggest challenges of my life so far, by signing up for multiple online college classes, helping out with activities all over the school, and playing football for the first time since freshman year. Although, under all this immense pressure, this is where my true colors came out. I didn’t stop working to my full potential,…
