Oco 2 Compare And Contrast
The CALIPSO and OCO-2 are two satellites on the NASA A-Train (Afternoon Train). The A-Train is a group of satellites that travel behind one another that travel on the same track as they orbit earth. CALIPSO contains CALIOP, a nadir-viewing two wavelength, polarization-sensitive lidar with two passive sensors. CALIPSO provided the first data set of aerosol and cloud profiles. The lidar beam from the CALIPSO is able to distinguish these layers. Since low cloud layers are able to be penetrated by lidar, the CALIPSO can better detect low level clouds and thin cirrus clouds.
The OCO-2 will be compared to the CALIPSO to see where they agree and disagree on where there is a cloud. OCO-2 is one of the first satellites to accurately measure carbon
