As a reflection upon the story itself the main character say this “Those adventures made a long evening, and I do not hold with tiresome repetition of a story.” (Homer 956-957) You would that after all Odysseus has been through he would have just given up. Gone and lived on one of the abandoned islands or maybe even an inhabited one. But he doesn’t. He doesn’t give up and he keeps moving forward even though it hurts. This whole way he has been losing friends and allies, but it doesn’t stop him. He’s been through physical and mental trauma, but he doesn’t just quit because he knows that that would be betraying everything the ordeal has been trying to teach him. As much as the journey will sometimes hurt, it’s important to take your time. It’s extremely satisfying to earn something for ourselves. We know that we can count on ourselves because we’ve gone through a journey to get what we have and where we are. We, for a better term, have inspired ourselves by putting ourselves through something with something other than complete ease.
