Odyssey Chapter 3 Summary

In the epic novel the odyssey the king of Ithaca by the name of Odysseus goes on wild adventures to make his way back home and keeping his men under control. After the trojan war he seeks a way for him and his men to get back home. On the way home he is encountered with being held captive and fighting against gods and monsters. Odysseus tries his best to keep his men under control and lead them back to their families back in Ithaca.
After a ten year war with the Trojan army odysseus and his men fight their way back home. On the way back Odysseus’s men are turned into swine and he is held captive as a “Slave” and that took up most of their time. In chapter 3 him and his men are stuck on the island of the Cylclopies. ( The Land of The Cyclopies)Odysseus tells his best fighters to come with him they are curious and end up in a cave with the cyclops Polyphemus. Polyphemus keeps them hostage and eats some of Odysseus’s men one by one. After building up courage they drunken the cyclops,
A few adventures later a sea monster by the name scylla (page 450) eats some of his men. Odysseus puts ear wax in his men’s ears so they could not hear the sirens sing and seduce them. After setting shore his men are hungry odysseus falls asleep and his men kill the cattle of the sun god. As a punishment ahis men are killed and his ship is destroyed by lightning. The goddess Athena disguised him as a beggar and his son and him are the only ones that knows. His wife penelope test the suitors that want to marry her to string odysseus’s bow and shoot it through twelve axe holes. Odysseus is the only one that can do it. Now is his time for revenge so he kills all the suitors to get revenge for what they have done. His wife Penelope test him about their tree to see if it is him he proves it is and he is reunited with his wife Penelope after twenty
