Odyssey Entry #4 A poem as old as the Odyssey is still valuable in today's day and age, because it is relatable. People may not have to fight cyclops in today's world, but we can still relate to other things Odysseus had to accomplish. The Odyssey deals with the topics of being away from your significant other, having goals in life, and being able to resist temptations.
Odysseus is away from his family for a very long time. This still happens in today's time period. Weather it be for work, or for something like being incarcerated. When people have to leave their family or friends for long periods of time they miss them. Odysseus is away from his family for 20 years. This is a long time to be away from someone you love.
