In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck relationships are important. This whole book was about relationships. If you don’t have a relationship you are lonely. Almost everyone shows their loneliness in this book. “You takin his pay from him?” (22) This proves there weren’t many relationships back then because nobody really traveled together. Because they were together, that man became very suspicious and accused george of taking Lennie's pay. There can be good and bad relationships.
Good relationships are things what every person needs. In the book Candy said, “You wouldn’t think it to look at him now, but he was the best damn sheep dog I ever seen.” (44) There are good relationships but there are also bad relationships.
“Who hurt George?” (72) Lennie was worried about george because they are friends. This Is a type of a good relationship.
Bad relationships or no relationships are things what people try to avoid. Crooks was pretty isolated and didn’t have anyone to talk to because of the color of his skin. Crooks said “A guy needs somebody to be near him” (72) All Crooks had was his books In his own place. Crooks Isn’t the only person that has a bad relationship or no relationship. Curley’s wife had a bad relationship. Curley’s wife was taken advantage of throughout her life. “I don’t like Curley” (89) This Is what Curley’s wife said. This proves she doesn’t have a very good relationship with her husband.
In conclusion everyone needs a relationship whether it’s a friendship or just a regular relationship. Everyone will be lonely If you don’t have a relationship. There wasn’t that many good relationships in this book. All the good relationships ended in death. For example Candy had a really good relationship with his dog. George had an a relationship with lennie. Candy’s dog was shot and so was Lennie.
