The first step is just to fill out an application to become a state trooper. After that you will need to take and pass a written exam. The third step is to pass the physical fitness test. Step four is the polygraph exam. In refusal to take this test, it will result in immediate elimination for the job. Step five would be to take and pass a background check. If you have any felonies or warrants for your arrest, this will also be the result in immediate elimination for this job. Drug screen would be step six. Step seven is the selection process. The selection committee results would be step eight. Step nine would be the Orientation and Psychological Assessment. Step ten and step eleven are the fun steps which all of your hands on training that you will need for the road!
The advancements for a state trooper is slim, but after you had enough time as a state trooper you could always become a government agent of some type like a DEA Special Agent, or just become a City Police Officer or County Sheriff.
