Policing Relationships in other Organizations The US government has two types of police the Federal and State Governments. The Federal police consist of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Secret Service, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Alcohol, Tobacco, Fire Arms, and Explosives (ATF), etc…. Wisniewski (2013). Every Federal police has a role for instance the FBI handles the criminals who cross the state lines or country boundaries. The FBI also deals with terrorist issues as well when in the US. The Secret Service job is to protect at all and this mean with their life The President and family, Vice President and family, and former Presidents still living. The DEA enforce the laws with combating drug smuggling and use within the US. The ATF’s job is to enforce the law when dealing with all alcohol, tobacco, fire arms, and explosives. For example, if a store gets caught selling tobacco products to underage children then the ATF will step in and handle it. The State police have three types of sub-levels: State Trooper, County Sheriff, and City Police. The State Trooper has jurisdiction over the whole state but they usually patrol areas maintained by the state agencies. The County Sheriff handles arrest in their own jurisdiction, but some states extend this to other counties.
