OL325 GAIN SHARING
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY OL-325 TOTAL REWARDS KUUMBA MADISON 1/16/15 GAIN SHARING AT CIRCLEWORKS Circleworks has been making quality custom bicycles for customers for 50 years. Our small family run company has enjoyed the success of satisfying our loyal customers for years. The other component to our success is our loyal employees. They come to work each day and give 100 percent to make sure each bike is completed to specification. This has allowed us to create a solid trustworthy brand that defines hard work and quality.

This is a changing time economically for Circleworks. Growth has been experienced over the past 50 years. With this growth comes change. We can no longer manage the business under the same business model that was created 50 years ago. There is a concern about our employee’s motivation and moral. These are the employees that put so much into our brand.

I would suggest a Gain Sharing for Circleworks. This would allow employees feel like their efforts are truly for the company. The employees would be rewarded for key performance. This would help foster a culture of continuous improvement. Our employees would flourish under this change. They would constantly put forth a strong effort because there is something they can gain.

A team can be assembled to create the functions and components of the program. The employees will continue to work in teams. Goals will be set and based to fulfillment of those goal, they will be rewarded. This will increase production substantially. Increased production means increased profits which will be distributed into the sharing program.

Gain sharing and profit sharing would also be a great incentive in job retention, employee morale and employee dedication. When done correctly it can be a great attraction to current and new employees, as it can be used for a retirement plan. In this uncertain world the need to have a retirement plan is much needed. Plus the gain sharing can make an employee feel that is their company also and that drives them to do better within their job and to help other employees.…

Their teams of employees are knowledgeable in marketing, publishing and media based platforms. XO Group has a duty to its corporate governing teams, its experts, editors and directors, and everyone else working within the company; in the U.S., Australia and China. To keep these highly skilled professionals and other hard-working personnel, the company has to treat them well. That is why, in 2012, there was an increase in operating expenses of 3.6% “primarily attributed to increased personnel and information technology costs to support our growth initiatives” (XO Group Inc., 2012). While spending more might not seem like the best idea for companies, it meant that XO Group was willing to highly regard the needs of their employees. It is important for companies to truly care for their employees. Having satisfied employees leads to an increase in production, enhanced employee morale and ultimately, an increase in profitability. Also, when workers are satisfied, they tend to become more knowledgeable, making them a more valuable asset to the…

Riordan Manufacturing is faced with an interesting but not uncommon occurrence among larger businesses. Riordan is faced with a motivation and production problem in a growing, global organization. Employee motivation is an issue that does not discriminate as Organizations of all sizes wrestle with it. This is particularly true in manufacturing companies with a broad range of employees with myriad motivational needs. Usually, these workers represent multiple educational backgrounds, generations, ethnicities and family situations. How well the organization addresses these differences can mean the difference between an energized, productive workforce and a lethargic, non-productive one. Riordan has a strong reputation for paying attention to detail and extreme precision and fascinating quality control. Riordan’s President is the primary shareholder and founder of the company who focused on increasing sales and financial profits while increasing the value of his investments. “Profitability is the primary goal of all business ventures” (AG Decision Makers, 2006). Employee motivation, performance and retention are keys to Riordan’s continued growth, profitability and success. Career development, compensation and rewards, and employee relations programs can be used strategically for maximum organizational effectiveness (Anonymous, 2008).…

To improve the management of human resources in our company we need to complete performance appraisals and add new pay and benefits. We need to evaluate the performance levels of our employees on a monthly basis. Doing these evaluations will give the high performing employees the encouragement they need to stay on the right track and give the low performing ones a chance to see what they are doing wrong so that they can make corrections. These evaluations will also give us a chance to get to know the employees better. The second idea I have for improvement is to add a profit sharing plan to our benefits package. I believe that having a profit sharing plan will increase productivity and the quality of our products, since the amount of the bonuses the employees will receive is dependent upon how well the company is doing. The employees will have a reason to work hard to make the company more profitable. We will be able to work better as a team since everyone will have the same goal in mind, to make more money.…

Loyalty and Respect: The fusion of personal values with a company’s expressed work ethic may result in the development of greater employee loyalty and respect for the organization. In today’s world, attrition from the workplace has become increasingly problematic. The need to generate employee enthusiasm and dedication to product produced or service rendered is of utmost concern to retain the employee and infuse passion in those services delivered by the employer. There has been a long held maxim that if an employee truly believes in the work that he or she performs for an employer, that employee will be invigorated to create a necessary, safe and beneficial service or product with pride, dedication…

The human relation’s movement proved to the world that humans are not “things” doing the work, but that they are human with emotions that need management’s attention. Organizations who took an interest in their employees’ working conditions and ideas only benefited in the business world. The increased attention given to the employees by their employer was a good way to reach out and let the worker know that they were valued and their welfare was a concern of the company (Charles, 2005). Employees want to feel as if they are contributing to the overall mission otherwise all of their work is for nothing. An organization who is willing to learn what their employees are feeling and take into consideration McGregor’s Theory Y Assumptions will complete their mission faster, better, and more profitable than any business who operates with the mindset that their employees are “just worker bees”.…

Implementing change within a workplace can be difficult. Thus, setting ways to motivate workers can be just as difficult. Some methods may work for some workers but sometimes using the same methods may not work for others. It is imperative for a manager to find ways or that method would best suit his employees to assist him or her in adapting to unnecessary changes. Every leader or supervisor must know what a particular motivational technique has to apply on each individual to maximize the best potential of both workers. “Motivation occurs individuals according to three different methods of behavior: individuals, satisfying a personal need, competitive, trying to be better than someone he or she believes to be an opponent, or cooperative, working to achieve a goal that benefits the team or group” (McConnell, 2005).…

“Every organization must assume responsibility for its impact on employees, the environment, customers, and whomever and whatever it touches” (Maciariello, Pearce, &Yamawaki, 2010, p. 53). To understand such impacts, a company needs to define its purpose, mission, and vision supported by strong ethical and moral values. The circle could not be completed without a consistent management team that will attract and train a staff that is driven, motivated, and committed to the organizational purpose and to providing the best customer service possible, all to sustain the most important existence of a business – revenues.…

The workplace is very different today than it was fifty years ago. Among many obvious differences, a lesser seen difference is the change to employee motivation. Social, technological, and economical changes to the world have changed the way that people are motivated in the workplace. As a manager, it is his or her job to motivate their employees to work their hardest for the good of the company and the reciprocal benefit of themselves. Fifty years ago there were lots of changes to the social, technological, and economical aspect of the workplace.…
