Just Another Day Another Shovel At OmniScapes
It all began last summer I just graduated from Pickerington Central High School and I felt like I was on top of the world. The summer had just started and I needed a full time job to get my new adult life off on a good financial start. My mom knew of a guy named Adam Craycraft who was an owner of OmniScapes, which was a land and hardscape company. My mom thought this would be a cool and interesting job opportunity for me since I’ve never done anything like this before. So I thought to myself
Yea this would be perfect job for the summer I get to work outside all day and learn something new maybe even one day I’ll be able to build my own patio! So that’s exactly what I did I got an interview with Adam and nailed the job I even got one of my good friend Wesley a job there also. We both didn’t really know what we got ourselves into until we got out there actually doing it. Our job at OmniScapes was to be apart of the hardscape crew, which involves us to build patios or any type of masonry work for a client. Hardscape has to be one of the hardest hard labor jobs out there; when I started the first month was pretty rough, but you got use to it once you saw how big your paychecks were every two weeks. There was this one-day where it was the absolute worst day I’ve ever had at OmniScapes. The day started like any other work day getting up early around 5 A.M. to get dressed, pack my lunch, and make myself a cup of coffee
Hammond 2 to wake up for the long day ahead of me. After the thirty-minuet drive through the rush hour morning traffic to the West side of Columbus I finally arrived. I get out my car, open up the trunk, put on my boots and grab my lunch. Then I go see my foremen, Chip to see what hardscape crew I’m going with and what doing for the day. Today will be my first time working with the two owners the Craycraft brothers. I already know Adam

Walking into high school four years ago, I fully intended on being a part of of the Co-Op program at Midland High School. I took the required classes prior to applying into the program, which were Computer Technology I and II as well as the other graduation requirements. Come the end of my Junior year, I had entered into the program. In the beginning, there weren’t any job openings in the veterinary field. Fortunately, one opened up at Animal Medical Center in mid July. I had received a phone call from Dr. White, the head veterinarian and owner, requesting an interview. A few days later, I attended the interview and subsequently was offered the morning Co-Op position at Dr. White’s office. This position required training, so the Co-Op student…

Over the summer I applied to be in a Business summer apprenticeship program at the Metro Achievement Center located in Chicago more specifically Greek town. With hopes to learn as much as I could and test whether business was something I could see myself doing for the long run I started my first day at the program. After a few days of getting to know my other classmates and getting to know what our routine would be like we started to learn and as you could already guess I loved it. The program taught us things from how complex it could be to write a professional email but it also gave us the opportunity to take charge and start our very own small business which consisted of five members who all had an important role in order to make our business…

Even a hero has character flaws that make him more human than hero because of their good traits being weighed down by their bad traits. That is what keeps Odysseus in The Odyssey from standing out as the hero he was. The Odyssey was written by Homer and it is an epic poem. The Odyssey is about a young war hero, Odysseus, who has to make a journey home after the ten year Trojan War. He needs to arrive home before his son grows up because that is when his wife will move on to another man that will inherit his kingdom. Odysseus, the protagonist can be indirectly characterized both positively and negatively because he is both smart and arrogant.…

I do agree with this week’s speaker Sarah Lightheart one-hundred percent; I think that health is so hard to define because of the fact, there are so many different aspects of health. Health is not just eating right, exercising, and being social every now and again. There are six different dimensions of health that need to have some sort of balance in order to achieve the optimal level of health in oneself to in turn be healthy. To me, health does not mean that it you are lacking a little in one area of the six aspects of health that you are an unhealthy person, I feel that there needs to be more of a balance within all six dimensions. In addition, every aspect does not need to be at a maximum level for a person to be healthy; I personally focus more on the emotional, physical, spiritual, and social aspects of health and the rest just fall into place for me. With the exception of environmental health aspect, I do want I can but, I do not go out of my way to be more healthy in the environmental dimension, in which I do need to find more of a balance. In conclusion, the definition of health to me is a balance of all six dimensions of health I believe that each person has their own personal levels they need to maintain to be healthy, Every human has their own individual traits to be healthy, and what makes one person healthy may not do the same for…

Growing up, I had multiple instances where I have left an extracurricular activity. It started with baseball, a sport that did not interest me at an early age. My father just signed me up every year since the first grade. Every so often I would bring up the topic of quitting the team, but he would not allow me. It was not until during my third year of playing that my parents would extract me from the team.…

Odysseus has the defining character traits of a Homeric leader: strength, courage, nobility, a thirst for glory, and confidence in his authority. His most distinguishing trait, however, is his sharp intellect. Odysseus’s quick thinking helps him out of some very tough situations, as when he escapes from the cave of the Cyclops in Book 9, or when he hides his slaughter of the suitors by having his minstrel strike up a wedding tune in Book 23. He is also a convincing, articulate speaker and can win over or manipulate his audience with ease. When he first addresses Nausicaa on the island of Scheria, for example, his suave, comforting approach quickly wins her trust.…

I created this company to combine engineering with track. During track season, my teammates would always complain about how difficult and tedious it was to put on their spikes. Therefore, I invented a device that would install spikes into track cleats easier. However, constructing this product was no simple task. I had to effectively balance managing my company with, participating on the track team, being a member of Key Club, FBLA, CSF, Math club, and AVID. I joined the Young Entrepreneurs Academy and attended extra classes every Tuesday after school in order to receive funding for my company. Throughout the program I created a business plan, constructed a website, and learned how to operate CAD software in order to properly manufacture my product. I even collaborated with a few local engineers to help me 3D print the casing for my product and began working as a school tutor to pay for the supplies I needed. After all the technical tasks were complete, I began the long process of patenting my…

One of the main things about being a bricklayer is the benefits. One of very few benefits is that you get paid $44,950 a year (bls.gov). Another one of the benefits for being a bricklayer is that you get to get off a lot more than a normal job especially since I would be working for my uncles so they wouldn't be as mean as a real boss would be. The last of the benefits would be the trips that my uncles take you on after the end of the year, sometimes they will just buy…

    Odyssey

Although Odysseus was portrayed as a hero citizen in Homer’s epic The Odyssey, his fatal flaw, hubris, restricts him from being a good choice for the Greeks to use as a model citizen or hero. After Odysseus escaped the Cyclops lair, he taunted the Cyclops saying, “If I could take your life I would and take your time away, and hurl you down to hell! The god of earthquake could not heal you there.” Angered by Odysseus’ words, the Cyclops prayed to his father Poseidon, which was not good for Odysseus and his men. This shows that after Odysseus escaped from the Cyclops, his ego got the best of him and he couldn’t help, but taunt the Cyclops. It is clear that Odysseus is unable to control his ego, putting him and his crew in danger, which is not a good trait of a leader. Later on, Odysseus receives advice from Circe. After leaving Circe, Odysseus tells his crew, “ Sierenes weaving a haunting song over the sea we are to shun she said, and their green shore all sweet with clover; yet she urged that I alone should listen to their song.” Despite Circe’s warning about the Sirens, Odysseus feels that he is strong enough to endure the Siren’s song and lied to his crew about it. This shows that Odysseus has a huge ego because he feels he doesn’t need to listen to Circe’s warning. Odysseus’ fatal flaw, hubris, hindered his ability to be a good hero…
