Once Overspending Thing Ap Analysis
The phrase “Once in awhile things slip” means that when you have your mind set on one thing it can eventually change. For example, in the story the phrase indicates when the man's intentions were to kill the pig, but when the pig got sick he eventually gained emotions from it. Because the man was so used to taking care of the pig health and then slaughtering it; so he can eat it afterwards. By him not taking care of the pig properly the pig caught erysipelas. He didn’t think he’d eventually get sick along with the pig.

When you actually get to know something or someone your perspective can can change on that thing. Like how white care for his pigs, then just kills them for dinner. He never took the time out of his day to actually get to knowing the pig his mind was just fixed on preparing it for dinner. Once he had built a bond with the pig he was upset he couldn’t save the dying pig life. White use a certain choice of words so he can the show the readers he loved the pig as a friend. In white’s mind the pig is no longer a snack the pig is a friend. …show more content…
This pig out of all pigs really impacted his life ever since that pig died, he’d never be the same. For years, killing pigs with no emotion was his daily routine now he has an emotional connection with pigs. Remember white didn’t even start a family yet so that could be the reason he showed such deep emotion for the pig. White flashbacks show that the pig death showed him his true morality. He also realized when the pig died it was too late for him to fix things because he himself was dying as
